They bought a game and now cannot play it. Classic breach of contract and expected product that was paid for.
It's not marketing if people are searching hashtags.
It was one of the main drivers for me to move out. I will never rent an apt with a system like that again. Now I know to ask if they have "smart" locks and will avoid them like the insecure plague they are.
They also had some wireless box that communicated with my apt lock that I had to put in my apt, connect it to my wifi, and use my power, all without any compensation.
Imagine a bunch of Marvel fans mad over the last few Thor movies making a gritty, comics accurate version. Imagine fans making the DC vs Marvel move that literally couldn't exist because of the studios would never allow it? Star Trek/Starwars crossover?
In a world where entertaining media becomes easy to produce, the only thing about the studio system worth anything is the distribution. Netflix would eat them alive.
The end state is something like media becomes so easy to create that most of it is only watched by the person who created it and even then probably not even that.
How many stable diffusion images are glanced at out of the 4 that pop up in MidJourney and are never looked at again but, just sit on MidJouney's servers forever? Eventually movies and video games will be this disposable.
Out of that might come gems that would have never otherwise been made but, most of it will be garbage.
If someone finds that their team keeps getting in trouble or failing due to mis-communication as a pattern, then something deeper is wrong.
No matter how valuable your username is, you are renting it without renter's rights. It's the equivalent of people building multi-million dollar businesses on land they don't own and can be kicked off of without notice or reason given.
It's even more insane that people use this for communication too and open themselves up to censorship, easedropping, governments listening. Social networks are good for connection but, relying on them and making an archive of sensative information in them is risky.
I make the initial connection in the social network for the network benefits and try to move people to better more secure and reliable channels later.
The clearly banned it because their analytics showed how effective it was in actually reducing people's usage of the platform.
All with gas prices that literally fractions of a penny and 50k+ transactions per second.
Fleet prices for electric cars today are already significantly cheaper. In the future, probably more so.
Intuit is the slowest, most comfortable dev dept I've ever seen. Everything takes forever to get done. Even small projects take 3-6 months. They would ask us for a feature and budget 6 months and we would have it done in 1-2 weeks.
At first they looked at us like rockstars. Then their culture started getting into our organization and we slowed down to their level. Everyone left when they wanted to move us out of our cool downtown offices to a space in one of their big suburban office parks, way outside the city.
Almost everyone left when that was announced.
TLDR; Intuit is an awesome place to work if you want to hide, do nothing and get paid a truckload of money.
Nostalgia really got people gassed up.
Reminds me of when I first started out and would put a comment on every closing bracket of the context of what started that bracket.
There are other faster, free, high quality options for pair programming.
The features of one click deploys and rollbacks tie the deployment system to your proprietary closed-source service.
Retraining a team away from PR and Merge Requests would take time for something that doesn't seem to offer much in the way of new benefits.
Do I have to log into a website to create / switch branches? How do checkout code? Do I download a zip from a website and then click a sync button on my IDE? Am I forced to use VSCode for integration or can I use VIM/EMacs?
Click the link and it goes to a url that doesn't return a site.
Either one of your flagship products is down or you've abandoned it and haven't bothered to take it off your front page.
Either way, smells kinda fishy and a little desperate considering a $275 lunch "experience" you guys are selling.
Please set one up and msg me and I'll gladly contribute. I'm a daily, heavy Evernote user and I would love some competition to this great app and the ability to have an open-source option.
Figuring how much investment flows from tech companies (through the companies and the employees as alumni donators) to these elite universities, it may be a worthwhile investment.
It probably is one of the few reliable signals at scale. Sure, you can pluck out a few smart people from your local podunk uni who for various reasons really are that smart but, didn't get into an elite school but, if you need to hire 200 really smart, really capable engineers this year to feed your growth pipeline Stanford, Harvard, et al isn't that bad.
Additionally, it looks good for VCs to say that I have someone from Harvard or Stanford or etc on the team.
