I am too old for this....

slac··on Why Google Did Android
Going from the N9 to the first IPhone (I jailbroke mine for use in Sweden) was a revelation.

The N9 was a very complex beast to use and it was very laggy compared to the smooth graphics the iPhone offered.

Even in the markets where it was available, it was a very rare sight. But grey import iPhones were everywhere in Stockholm.

Calgary to Toronto is a no brainer. Every Canadian learns about the TransCanada highway. I seriously wonder about their claims.
slac··on WeWork’s Back Is Against a Wall
This was the building owner, not google. Once Google bought the building, the practice stopped.
slac··on Google just deleted my nearly 10-year-old free and open-source Android app
The Play store is not available in China and there is a thriving app ecosystem there.
slac··on I Miss Microsoft Encarta
Jake Knapp, a designer that started his career on Encarta, gave a huge nod to the product journey in his Design Sprint talk in london a while back.

slac··on Google faces EU antitrust fine over Android case
Not a single Android phone in China ships with Google Play. So alternatives do exist!

slac··on Belgium declares loot boxes gambling and therefore illegal
Maybe because other countries do not play baseball? (Except japan Canada Cuba and a few other island countries)
slac··on Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad has died
Mixed feelings here. Incredible entrepreneur that built an empire on solid product values. Masterfully executed through laser focus on logistics. Brought design and furniture to the masses.

Shadowed by his Nazi roots which I never felt he apologized forcefully enough...

And the fact the incredibly shadowy ikea tax structure makes it hard for anyone to compete against. Profiles itself as a Swedish company and uses the country for marketing purposes but has done everything it could to avoid taxes here.

Also, the mountain of cash hidden in all the Dutch and Luxembourg trust funds coming from this tax structure is not being used to contribute back to society in a meaningful way like Gates and Buffett.

slac··on Apple’s Silence in China Sets a Dangerous Precedent
Just got back from 9 days in China. My observation is that some services are blocked on local Sim card yet available on international ones.
slac··on How Google Wants to Rewire the Internet
That is a very US centric view of the world. Google operates far beyond Comcast Verizon and AT&T.
slac··on Volvo signals 'end of the solely combustion engine-powered car'
Sadly not the same Volvo. Volvo Cars is owned by Geely, a Chinese company. Volvo Trucks is publicly listed, no clue who owns marine division if it still exists..
slac··on How the Maker of TurboTax Fought Free, Simple Tax Filing (2013)
Sweden. Free university, no fee healthcare for kids, a few dollars for adults. But it's a sketchy country... be careful if you go there. #lastnightinsweeden

The new Chrome behavior should alleviate the need to disable. Basically, the behavior that caused the concern has been changed significantly.

slac··on Apple is hiring engineers to bring WebRTC to Safari
That behavior has been changed by Chrome and FF (I think) quite significantly. Please read https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/discuss-webrtc/_5hL0...

This implements the behavior proposed to the IETF https://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-shieh-rtcweb-ip-handling-0...
