skylurk··on Germany’s RobCo hits $1B valuation
Globe-trotting contractors are probably well-paid specialists. GP is probably not commenting on the German labor market.

Sometimes I need to sign in to a personal Github account on a work laptop, so I hope non-passkey flows keep working. I don't install my personal password manager on a work laptop.

I tried to use the built-in foundation models to draw pelicans riding bicycles, but what I got out was SVG of roadkill. That is realistic in a different sense.

> I think giving someone hope that an answer exists might as well be the same thing as giving them the answer these days.

If you read the history of major scientific discoveries, this has been the case for a long time. There are many things that were independently discovered by different people at nearly the same time. Once people know something is solved or solvable, it gets a relentless amount of focus.

skylurk··on Show HN: OwnTime – a chess clock for your day's priorities
I like the way the alarms app lets you specify exactly which days of the week a repeating alarm applies to.

For me the same feature set is fine, it's just a different breakdown of time.

On weekdays I have configured 8 hours of work (that I might still subdivide later). On weekends I would like to replace that block with "Chores" and "Nap" :)

skylurk··on Show HN: OwnTime – a chess clock for your day's priorities
Just bought it. Is there a day of week feature or "weekend mode" planned?

I made something similar to this directly in Wagtail over the summer. Unfortunately not published but very doable.

skylurk··on How Europe is killing makers and micro-entrepreneurs
Back in college (USA) friends would spin up LLCs for the summer just to buy mowers or vans to do yard work. They would hire all the students who didn't get summer jobs. Those hired students would make about 3x a STEM intern makes in western europe today.

skylurk··on How is the Bun rewrite in Rust going?
But Bun also implements the interpreter to those tests— doesn't that mean it has a lot of leeway to over-fit to them? It's not as clean as "don't change these files" in this case.

In general I would agree though, and would take it one step further: the agent writing the source code should not even be able to see the tests, nor the agent writing the tests see the source code.
