skiexperte··on The coming eBPF revolution and why Kubernetes monitoring will never be the same
Agree and disagree.

K8s is the only opensource infrastructure layer there is, which has value.

But if you already have a small infra/cloud team, you do have potentially enough dev teams / product size to go with k8s if you want to.

Cilium wasn't mentioned and i think thats wrong. It should be part of the history of eBPF with Kubernetes as a fundamental CNI (now also with a service mesh) build with eBPF.

Its also part of the micro docume regarding eBPF and Brendan Greggs usage of eBPF for performance insights etc.

If you struggle online selling your art because of AI, your Art is not good enough and AI was not the problem to begin with.

A lot of friends around me are really good in drawing. They do not sell anything. A friend can draw really really good like photoreal, he also can barley life from this.

All of this was before AI.

I want to use AI for customization and not because i don't appreciate art.

If an artist gets frustrated because of some AI companies, sry to say but i don't think you are honest to yourself.

I also still hate this 'companies grabed our art and now we hate it'. Everyone looked at art from others to learn from art. There is very little unique art styles and just because someone else did it, doesn't mean that someone else can't come up with it.

Btw. i do photography for 20 years. No one wants to buy my prints either. But i still don't mind AI training on all my pictures. Why? I really really believe that AI will enable us to do a lot more and is necessary to achieve a Star Trek like system were we will have time again to actually persue art because all the capitalism bullshit like ads ads ads and ads (don't forget ads) will be less relevant to us.

Training models is not OS dependend. RAM is dependend on the size and i would argue this should be a lot easier to finetune with less GPU Ram.

Nonetheless the endgoal will probably be downloading a model like this or paying for finetuning than downloading and using it through an optimized Neuralchip.

Its currently more a question of when this will happen. The newest Windows cert already requires some neuralchip and even my google pixel 8 pro can host small models (i know the pixel is not a cheap phone, but the coprocessor should still be much more affordable than a big GPU)

Reading emails, replying to emails, scheduling tasks, using apis for services.

Basically everything which doesn't need knowledge but actions.

"Tell my wife i'm late" and it will use some configured magic to talk to service xy and just does it.

Siri is very good in doing homeautomatistaion without the internet, the old google agent and alexa were absolutly not and i don't think they were ever available offline.

This basically gives you a local (local-first!) good working assistent

I already have a grid which handles this situation. I'm lost on what your issue is with the grid?

The biggest issue in germany regarding grid and renewable is a distance of 800km between north germany which has a lot of wind and south germany which has a lot of solar.

Diverge it a little bit better and no issues

skiexperte··on Dear Roku, you ruined my TV
I have my lg on a vlan, if it wants to send out data thats fine for me tbh.

As soon as it becomes shitty, i add a chromecast

skiexperte··on Dear Roku, you ruined my TV
My lg works great. No additional remote, no extra cable.
skiexperte··on For the first time in more than 150 years, Alberta's electricity is coal free
We currently transport already energy from big producers to small towns left and right.

Solar Energy reduces the load of the grid because the renewable energy will be consumed locally first. This puts less strain on it.

skiexperte··on For the first time in more than 150 years, Alberta's electricity is coal free
Or easier. With germany you can't just put solar panels around a big city because either the city is too big or the land is occopied by something else.

But hey good that we talked about it :D

skiexperte··on Do Skis Get Blunt?
Its a shitty article.

Just looking at your skies and seeing an 'issue' doesn't tell you anything besides the fact that yes something had fun with that edge.

Questions which are completly unanswered: How long does a sharp edge actually stay as it is? If it looks like this after 5 minutes, it doesn't matter.

It also doesn't say if it was snow, ice or stones/ground killing that edge.

And as far as i remember, he didn't say anything regarding the waxing.
