Anthropocentric thought is a problem and it shows. How about as a community not needing corporations to tell you how to exist while they destroy ecosystems around us? Maybe if they label everything, that'll make it alllllllll okay.

That's wild to me that that is how you know the risks of cigarettes. I forget just how many people rely on corporate authority to "warn" them of everything. Is going to Codeberg or sourcehut(or Forgejo, etc) not like switching from Pepsi to Coke(or Mr. Pibb, etc)? When people start flooding to those alternate hosting platforms, threat actors are going to start heading that way as well. Shark bites happen near the shore, because that is where the people are.

I stopped spending time on the main social media platforms because, aside from constant altercations, people assume that electricity, the servers, the ISPs, etc will always be there. What can someone do with millions of views on Instagram videos? I can't purchase sustenance with it. I cannot send a message to my friends with it. Then though, there is the deforestation and other ecological issues. If everyone started sending letters instead of emails...flora and fauna would take a major hit.

I don't know what the best thing to do is, communication-wise, besides prevent humans from depleting resources for unnecessary things, but you know how that usually works out and, who determines what is necessary and what isn't?
