sixQuarks··on Human coders are still better than LLMs
Yes, but we can see current progress and extrapolate into the future. I give it 2/3 years before AI can code as well as a senior level coder
sixQuarks··on Human coders are still better than LLMs
Yes. I know what you’re referring to, but you can’t ignore the pace of improvement. I think within 2-3 years we will have AI coding that can do anything a senior level coder can do.
sixQuarks··on Human coders are still better than LLMs
Again, the question is for how long
sixQuarks··on Human coders are still better than LLMs
Exactly! We’ve been seeing more and more posts like this, saying how AI will never take developer jobs or will never be as good as coders. I think it’s some sort of coping mechanism.

These posts are gonna look really silly in the not too distant future.

I get it, spending countless hours honing your craft and knowing that AI will soon make almost everything you learned useless is very scary.

sixQuarks··on They used Xenon to climb Everest in days – is it the future of mountaineering?
People are definitely starting to get white savior fatigue these days. Several comments like this in response, whereas in the past you’d seen none.
sixQuarks··on The UI future is colourful and dimensional
It’s so stupid. I get the emperor has no clothes vibe from all of this
sixQuarks··on OpenAI to buy AI startup from Jony Ive
I don’t think AI is a bubble at all, but openAI is.
sixQuarks··on OpenAI to buy AI startup from Jony Ive
This is such an obvious jump the shark moment for openAI.

These types of puffery acquisitions, with a former “legend”, announced with such gusto, have never materialized into anything.

You’re not gonna get breakthrough products like this. Breakthrough products just appear unexpectedly, they’re not announced a year or two ahead of time.

sixQuarks··on “Most promising signs yet” of alien life on a planet beyond our Solar System
There is no way civilizations make it past a certain point. It’s so completely obvious, just look at our world. In 2025 we are enabling a genocide while the masses don’t seem to care or even know about it.

You think the people that are having these types of atrocities committed against them would think twice about ending civilization as revenge if given the power? What do you think is going to happen with AI?

If we can’t stop a genocide, why would you think we can stop civilization ending?

sixQuarks··on I've been using Claude Code for a couple of days
If past human behavior is any indication, way worse.
sixQuarks··on I've been using Claude Code for a couple of days
All I see here is coping by developers. You all are so blind to what’s coming.

Let’s not forget, if you relied on hacker news to give you accurate takes on things, you would’ve never bought bitcoin at one cent.

sixQuarks··on GM exits robotaxi market, will bring Cruise operations in house
Lmao, I’m in the exact same situation as you.

These people probably have never even tried FSD. They have no idea

sixQuarks··on GM exits robotaxi market, will bring Cruise operations in house
It's so funny to see the mental gymnastics and just plain ignorance. We literally have videos of FSD V13 doing basically what Waymo does (and more - like highway driving), yet they all have their heads in the sand.

I would so love to do a bet with you, easy money. I’ll even take 2 to 1 odds
sixQuarks··on GM exits robotaxi market, will bring Cruise operations in house
I can’t wait to see how badly this comment ages
sixQuarks··on GM exits robotaxi market, will bring Cruise operations in house
You have it wrong buddy. Tesla is the one that needs competition, they’re going to have a robotaxi monopoly soon.
sixQuarks··on GM exits robotaxi market, will bring Cruise operations in house
The difference is that it’s not Elon saying this anymore. It’s the actual beta testers, and other people that work at Tesla saying this.

The Elon hate is so ingrained here, people are ignoring what’s happening right in front of their eyes.

sixQuarks··on Next stop: Miami
It also expands the market. Currently bus riders can’t afford to take Ubers but would prefer to. People that would rather take Ubers than walk or bike, and people who would rather give up their car and do uber full time.

This will all be possible with low cost autonomous transport

sixQuarks··on Tesla is looking to hire a team to remotely control its 'self-driving' robotaxis
There’s a lot of ignorance in these comments. do people not realize that Waymo and the other full self driving companies have tele operators as well?

It’s a back up system in case The vehicle gets stuck. Simple as that.

There is so much Elon and Tesla hate, these comments are so weird.
sixQuarks··on Waymo closes $5.6B investment round
You either didn't understand what Elon said, or are deliberately misinterpreting what he said - I listened to the earnings call myself. He said it's taking longer to train the models because the miles between interventions is getting so large that it takes a while to see which model is better when they're comparing different models. It's not a "huge problem", it's a good problem.
sixQuarks··on Waymo closes $5.6B investment round
Yeah, so? You don't think they're going to keep improving it until supervision isn't required?
sixQuarks··on Waymo closes $5.6B investment round
It’s funny, my Tesla drove me 30 miles yesterday and I didn’t have to do a thing. People in this thread have no idea how good FSD has gotten
