Yes, this is very true.
As an addendum, I think many people in industry don't quite realise how prevalent RDF and RDF-based ontologies are in academia. They're one of the main ways researchers integrate data. No one cares about lofty ideals, it's about the usefulness of RDF graph model and the various associated standards built on top of it.

If you need that validation, you just validate the map? You can use established methods like Malli or Clojure Spec for this. If you need to use a record with a fixed schema, just use a record instead of map. In Clojure, you can use most of the map functions for records too.
We've only used LEDs in my country for, what, 15 years now? They are perfectly fine, no issues really, much cheaper than incandescent bulbs of course. We just buy the ones in IKEA and they haven't really failed us so far.
Is Nix a viable alternative to that?
