sigmonsays··on Alternatives to MinIO for single-node local S3
i thought rustfs was AI slop?
sigmonsays··on Firefox 156 shows ads in the address bar (dubbed "Firefox Suggest")
where do you put this user_pref content?
sigmonsays··on Show HN: Capsule – Single-file web apps that save their data into SQLite
if state is best shared, why keep it w/ the code?

You're gonna end up having to build a complex state sync system to a central DB anyways...

sigmonsays··on Gloomberb
This post / OP really needs to say if it's AI SLOP or not and to what extent. This looks like AI slop.
sigmonsays··on Apple engineer says he was fired after refusing to send cust. device IDs to AT&T
Link to non paywall version?
sigmonsays··on Ziggity – A terminal UI for Git, written in Zig
prolly authored it in a tui and it crashed, since it wasn't written in rust
sigmonsays··on Logseq 2.0 Beta (DB version) is here
i begrudgingly switched from logseq to obsidian.
sigmonsays··on Podman v6.0.0
that's a really bad stance... nothing wrong with compiling from source
sigmonsays··on Show HN: Tiny – An interpeted dynamic langauge with inline Go native functions
this is interesting, i'm wondering if it can beat just installing go though.

I think it'd be interesting to build a adhoc config mgmt system w/ this and use it as a high level scripting language.

sigmonsays··on Waymo Premier
Since when is talking to someone such a horrible thing for a human being to do
sigmonsays··on Show HN: Gitdot – a better GitHub. Open-source, written in Rust
that UI is way too opinionated
sigmonsays··on Cargo Install Friend
why waste the cargo namespace on stuff like this. it's not even very thoughtful.
sigmonsays··on BYD overtakes Tesla and Kia as the best-selling EV brand in key overseas markets
Where/how can we buy a BYD in the US?
sigmonsays··on Specsmaxxing – On overcoming AI psychosis, and why I write specs in YAML
a spec can be wrong until you prove it is right..
sigmonsays··on Spotify adds 'Verified' badges to distinguish human artists from AI
That actually hurts a little. I hope you reconsider, music is an art, and allowing a computer to regurgitate previous works over and over and be ok with it is awful.

Art is to be experienced and enjoyed, not just take whatever trash is thrown at you and be ok with it.

sigmonsays··on BookStack Moves from GitHub to Codeberg
be the change you want to see
sigmonsays··on Bitwarden CLI compromised in ongoing Checkmarx supply chain campaign
If I run the compromised CLI, do they get all my passwords?
sigmonsays··on Healthchecks.io now uses self-hosted object storage
how do you provide highly available fault tolerant storage?

versity does not include any erasure coding or replication...

sigmonsays··on Git commands I run before reading any code
I have a strong suspicion this is AI slop. I also think this article draws way too many conclusions from a git log.
sigmonsays··on 12k AI-generated blog posts added in a single commit
when AI starts training itself accidentally on AI generated content, we all lose...
sigmonsays··on NanoClaw Adopts OneCLI Agent Vault
can someone explain openclaw/nanoclaw use cases to me?

I also do not understand the uses right now. Are we just grasping at usefulness ?

sigmonsays··on Hello Worg, the Org-Mode Community
the entire purpose of the website is lost to me. I had to figure it out by reading the comments.
sigmonsays··on Gitas – A tool for Git account switching
Feel free to have your own workflow but git already addresses this tools entire purpose with includeIf.

what does this address that includeIf does not?

sigmonsays··on Russia's economy has entered the death zone
what does this do to the Russian citizens? is cost of everything going up to ridiculous levels?
sigmonsays··on 4x faster network file sync with rclone (vs rsync) (2025)
for fun try this 1. tar + nc 2. rsync 3. scp

#1 is the fastest way to send because it keeps the buffers full in a consistent stream which allows tcp windows to grow as large as possible. 2 and 3 ( scp and rsync ) do round trip acks to the remote side which drastically slows things down, even if done in parallel.

sigmonsays··on Netbird – Open Source Zero Trust Networking
what is the difference between netbird and tailscale?
sigmonsays··on Show HN: Whosthere: A LAN discovery tool with a modern TUI, written in Go
this stopped me from go installing it too on nixos. I'm not gonna put the effort in to run it.

There should be a build tag to disable clipboard, that'd be the easiest way around this.

sigmonsays··on Just the Browser
I dont understand the need for an entire website and shell script installer when all it does is download 1 file and put it somewhere.

For anyone else on firefox, save yourself some effort and just download this https://github.com/corbindavenport/just-the-browser/blob/mai...

sigmonsays··on Floppy disks turn out to be the greatest TV remote for kids
their vision is still developing and staring at a screen is not good for eye development.

it removes stimulation and interaction with the environment and replaces it with sedentary and no physical interactions.

While the exact reasons are not common knowledge, knowing TV is bad for toddlers is.
