As a matter of fact even with a GPU rack it will take a hundred years or so given what you are up against by now.

Maybe you should watch some documentaries about that to realize that this is by the same token part of any "culture".
That's why there is a rape problem in prisons which is certainly not caused by gays ...
Then again - I don't believe this is part of Afgan culture at all anyway. I think that happens when survival bias due to war and destruction over a long period of time leads to very fucked up people climbing to the top of a society.
At the end of the day - or maybe rather at its start - the US is partly responsible for Afghanistan being trapped in a downward spiral.
Have a look at this (randomly chosen gallery) about Afghanistan in its 60s - I don't think that culture would be very fond of rapists.

Now one might righfully argue that this case is not just ludicrous but also racist.

1. The majority of people in fact doesn't care about being tracked - "hackers" (and also myself) do care though - but that's a minority.
2. Most people like good advertisement.
3. It's wrong to just naturally assume that ads have to be annoying. A discreet, not-moving, not-animated ad is not bothering anybody.
4. Just as most people aren't willing to pay for content they aren't willing to pay for the maintenance of ad blockers - which is why the devs of those ABs will (and as a matter of fact) already offer whitelisting for money. [http://arstechnica.com/business/2015/02/over-300-businesses-...]
5. More and more web-sites will simply deny access to their content if ad blocking is detected.
6. The HN people's perspective on ads is in each and every way not that of the majority of people potentially clicking ads. We are not the driving force.
---
The equilibrium will be Ad Blockers that white list benevolent and discreet ads - advertisement as an income source will become less attractive but it won't go away.
Also Ad Blocking depends on detectable code or ad servers. If the ad dissemination technology shifts accordingly then Ad Blockers simply won't be able to detect ads any longer.
Do you really think Mexico made progress during the past decades just b/c they have malls and fast internet? I guess any untouched indian tribe in the Brazilian rain forest offers more original culture than what developed in Mexico during the past twenty years.
The perverted War on Drugs inflicted by the US onto Mexico and other countries could not have evolved as it did without corrupt governments in the first place.
You want to grab that country by the shoulders and shake it to its senses. But then again you (or whatever is left of your body) don't want to end up hanging upside down from a bridge somewhere ...
There are and will be also tx fees for Bitcoin.
> Here’s how primitive the infrastructure is now: The Bitcoin blockchain can currently handle 7 transactions a second
That's not an infrastracture issue but an intentional limitation by design.

There is more than cooked or take-away or Soylent.
How about this:
- Whole-wheat bread
- Avocado
- Smoked fish
- a piece of feta
- an apple
- a banana
Just one of many cold-dish very healthy meals. A good mix of everything - carbon hydrates, proteins, fats, ruffage, vitamins, minerals - enjoy.

Beyond my scepticism regarding the long-term benefit of a simplification of eating down to relying to a single designed food source - I am also worried about the mindset of a person who is motivated in doing so.
- self-confidence to not buy an expensive Apple smartphone like your peers but a reasonable priced one from Huawai
- education to efficiently think about a products features
- patience to not buy as soon as possible but take time to observe prices and wait for meaningful reviews on amazon
At the end of the day it all comes down to your personal biography, upbringing etc.

You can get very high quality and long lasting stuff for reasonable prices. People who are poor though tend to not investigate products or reflect on decisions they make in that area. This leads to buying overpriced and unnecessary gadgets - often of very low-quality.
The shoe-analogy doesn't really work in my opinion nowadays that manufacturing is industrialized and automated.
