That's not to say these things don't exist but as always you need to go out of your way to find them, because people who are prioritizing the creative act typically aren't going to be prioritized in our attention-focused slop world.
Apparently, even Canadian conservatives are happy to grovel at the feet of the Burger Reich and their supreme leader.
>"Someone once said that it is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism."
They cite Marxist philosopher Fredric Jameson (and misspell his name, incidentally), but I've always attributed this phrase to Fisher. I guess citing kpunk would have probably made the simulation we all live in actually implode.
I also have a macbook that I use for certain proprietary apps that don't have Linux clients and it can be a weirdly peaceful experience just knowing you're locked into macOS's stack and there aren't a myriad of options you could install at any moment should you get bored.
That being said, macOS sucks.
Before anyone hits me with the "oh what about people who don't speak English" -- I legitimately don't care. I'd rather do the extremely human and now seemingly endearing ritual of trying to figure out what you're trying to say in our respectively broken interpretation of human language than read one sentence of Claudeisms.
If I was a door dash driver or something, and I just wanted to get from A to B, then yeah, maybe I would ride an e-bike instead. But I like cycling. I'm not going to stop liking cycling just because someone made a robot that also can do cycling.
Seeing as how these companies get hacked all the time, (https://krebsonsecurity.com/2026/09/fbi-probes-service-selli...) , I don't think it's unreasonable to resist this.
Furthermore, I think many folks have reservations about requiring an ID checkpoint to utilize a computer. Obviously it's not that bad yet, but I don't think it's hyperbolic to state that the landscape is certainly trending in that direction, and it's absolutely not unreasonable to point out that governments and institutions to have a material interest in setting up access controls on who can and can't use the internet (read: participate in society).
Big "bedtime is slavery" vibes off this one. Just because you've had every option afforded to you by your mega IQ and elite status doesn't make you a martyr because you get anxious about going on LinkedIn. There are kids who live their whole lives in absolute misery until they get blown up by a US/Israeli bomb. Whether or not you get to work at a startup or not is not tyranny.
This whole culture is so cringe. There's great dignity in being comfortable with your work. Find something that you feel is a noble toil, and just do it to the vest of your ability. I know janitors and chefs who I respect infinitely more than some SF dork whining because they can't decide which startup to work for.
I know there's some issues with big picture mode and Nvidia, but that's an Nvidia driver problem, not a limitation of the platform.
If you can't be bothered to write it, then there is literally no reason for me to read it.
