shortandsweet··on Vitamin D insufficiency may account for almost 90% of Covid-19 deaths
What's the reason? Maybe not share it but double check that the reason is still valid. The criteria changes pretty frequently. They always need more blood.
shortandsweet··on GM scales back partnership with electric truck startup Nikola
Just curious because I would like to learn a different perspective, why would it matter? I could see maybe for a trial but here, on the internet, what is the issue?
shortandsweet··on Vitamin D insufficiency may account for almost 90% of Covid-19 deaths
Why not make it simple? I donate blood every 2 months. They tell me cholesterol and if I have c19 antibodies. Why not other important health indicators?
shortandsweet··on Iran’s Top Nuclear Scientist Killed in Attack
I often struggle to become convinced of what to believe with these sorts of things. Is the media to be believed? Is this state or that nation bad?

But, I know that during the Arab spring the Iranian revolutionary guard killed their own people. That removed all of my doubt, the Iranian government is bad. Anyone that would kill their own people are capable of much worse. They had no due process, no investigation, just killing in the streets. It didn't take the opinion of a news anchor for me to reach that conclusion, I saw it with my eyes.

shortandsweet··on Venture Capitalists Are Deforming Capitalism
Are there any tv shows inked for this story? Sounds like a wolf of wall street type of deal. Only in tech.
shortandsweet··on WTF Happened in 1971? (2019)
How does bitcoin solve this? Last time I checked there's no fixed bitcoin price either. The currency is so volatile on news, it's sagging and spiking all over the place.
shortandsweet··on Ask HN: Are you depressed?
One thing that has helped me is becoming involved with a men's group. It might not work for you but I see benefits in being able to discuss aspects of life with other men. This particular group has a training regimen to learn to open up and communicate. It starts slowly and then it ramps up. There are a ton out there but the one I'm part of is K4 Nation. They are currently taking enrollment for the January cohort of men.
shortandsweet··on A nameless hiker and the case the internet can’t crack
What if he has a will and trust that need to be executed?
shortandsweet··on The Life of Einstein's First Wife
Sounds like an A/B solution would work here.
shortandsweet··on Competition and Quarter-Life Crises
I totally vibe with this. I've never been super competitive either, I always wondered if it hindered me in some way. Even today we had a breakdown in between teams at work, pointing fingers at each other. I just finally said, ok my fault, and recommended how I could have prevented the issue to begin with. Technically not my responsibility but the competition between the two teams was maddening.
shortandsweet··on Competition and Quarter-Life Crises
I value the input, speaking from their experience. A comment on a post from a blog. How you infer racism is beyond me.
shortandsweet··on Hiring for tech jobs has increased more than 100% in these Midwestern cities
What are the big schools? I always thought that what was holding the Midwest up, not enough high quality schools.
shortandsweet··on Is Wildfire Smoke Making Our Fog More Persistent?
Which does it actually measure?
shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
I dont see where a gaming account is prohibited? Maybe stretching the multiple accounts requirement but there are ways to navigate that.
shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
Perhaps it was disabled due to money being involved? I could see that as fraudulent activity myself.
shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
An account to use oculus doesn't seem like it's a fake account. It's being created to use their services. I don't see how that qualifies as fake.
shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
I'd say you should get a refund at minimum. Or even transfer your purchases to a new account in some fashion.
shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
That's fair as long as FB specifies these requirements ahead of time. I'd be unhappy if FB didn't tell you and this is only discovered after the fact.
shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
How is my assumption wrong? They haven't even implemented it fully yet.

There's google voice for a number. Probably other services that offer that.

I think your post has a lot of assumptions... Social graph? What?

shortandsweet··on The Oculus Quest 2
What's your hard point about it?

Seems like a dummy, fake, account would provide what you need?

What other concerns do you have?

Legitimately curious.

shortandsweet··on Pringles tube tries to wake from 'recycling nightmare'
So why not provide a bin for them for the deposit recyclables? I'll tell you what, if you would like to pick out your preferred bin, show me it, and I'll pay for it for you. If that's really your problem then I can make the effort with a simple and easy solution.
shortandsweet··on Pringles tube tries to wake from 'recycling nightmare'
The solution is more data. Let's see how CA rates compare to that of say... MA, which has a significantly less population of homeless.
shortandsweet··on Small nuclear reactors: tiny NuScale reactor gets safety approval
You'd hope so. Reactors yes, but not spent fuel pools. Everyone misses things. I've found 3 design flaws myself in the industry. Not too big of a deal as actions can be taken to mitigate some of the flaws. The other flaws are less probable of causing an issue due to redundant and diverse systems but there's always the off chance...
shortandsweet··on Law allows police to seize and sell cars of non-lawbreakers, keeping proceeds
How do you know so much about the organizational structure? I would like to learn more, everything from the secretary on up to the potus.

shortandsweet··on Rolling blackouts in California have power experts stumped
I'm curious about how you became an apprentice then decided it wasn't for you? These are not easy to get into I've heard. What made you consider it and what made you leave?
shortandsweet··on Remote work is reshaping San Francisco, as tech workers flee and rents fall
Sure, I agree, certainly permits are required in some locations yes. But you can usually find something available. Even locations off the beaten path. There are a lot more options to climb along the hundreds of miles of mountain range when compared to a city.
shortandsweet··on Remote work is reshaping San Francisco, as tech workers flee and rents fall
Take your fake wall. I have the sierras at my back door.
