shmde··on German Cabinet approves liberalization of Cannabis Possession
You can thank the mighty United States of the A for it. In India my dad used to tell he went to government rationed cannabis stores to buy it. Then some stupid drug treaty made by the Greatest nation in the history of mankind came into effect making weed illegal overnight.
shmde··on A simple way to test the charge level on alkaline batteries (2015) [video]
Paying for something to access that tax payers already paid for in the first place ? How is this rocket science.
shmde··on July 2023 was the hottest month on record
So tired to see this take over and over again in HN. Putting the blame on Asia and developing nations for carbon emissions while

USA pays other nations to dump their garbage. The west/developed countries blames eastern/developing countries for it when in fact they were also responsible for a shitton amount of emissions when they started industrializing their countries and still continue to export wastes/export manufacturing stuff which generates waste.

shmde··on July 2023 was the hottest month on record
Also why is the majority of it are Americans ? I have this theory that an average american has finished the main quest of life and just doing side quests to troll people. Main quests as in not worried about the stuff needed for basic survival aka food, water and shelter. A well fed rebel without a cause with a government aided financial safety net. Just be contrarian because why not. Soo much free time in their hands that they don't know what to do with it. When you have nothing to fight for anymore no wars etc, you have to create these imaginary boogeymen to keep your sanity in check. Earth is flat, climate change is not real, vax causes autism, Like imagine the time and mental space of these giblet heads.
shmde··on Jira can’t stop people from using it incorrectly
Looking at Jiras dashboard makes me want to challenege my boss/upper mgmt to a steel cage boxing match.
shmde··on Why Tailwind CSS Won
The whole "Why _____ won" is the same as specific politically affiliated news channel trying to sway future voters by stating some inflated Exit Poll numbers in favor of the party they are trying to portray as winning the election. Same reason why you see every new graduate you see has been affected by the whole MongoDB/NoSQL, React propaganda.
shmde··on Google Finds It’s Underpaying Many Men as It Addresses Wage Equity

shmde··on Things you forgot (or never knew) because of React
Some niche ass framework with little to no eco-system. Or plain javascript by people thinking the web is used to display a single page worth of content.
shmde··on The video call revolution is dead
Don't forget Google meet had mute/unmute and leave call button side by side for years.
shmde··on Firefox desktop extensions coming soon for the upcoming Android release
Your memory is failing you. Been using firefox android ( stable and beta) with the addons (ublock etc) since a few years now.
shmde··on Speed Test
I remember me and my brother getting excited when torrent speeds used to touch 200 kbps. Good days.
shmde··on What happened in this GPT-3 conversation?
Ready to replace the methed up schizos walking down the alleyways preaching gospels.
shmde··on ASK HN: What’s a small thing you’ve purchased which has made your life better?
2nd Monitor, mechanical keyboard, Pocket pussy, well cushioned office chair.
shmde··on I am offering a $100k bounty to the person who sets me up with my life partner
Reading this makes me want to press a reset button on humanity.
shmde··on Stripe is no longer a suitable payment processor
This post was on the frontpage. Now its not even in the first 3 pages. People really think post ranks are not controlled by someone ? I know there are formulae to calculate the post rankings. But I smell BS.
shmde··on The Wrath of Goodreads
> "Do not review a book you haven’t read."

> People who leave reviews with strong opinions for books they haven't read should feel ashamed of themselves. Bad, receive the bonk stick.

Replace books with games and the whole gaming community will be in pitchforks after you.

shmde··on Police are not primarily crime fighters, according to the data
I was shocked to see how absolutely callous american police was while browsing this youtube channel [1]. Many of these are incidents where death was EASILY avoidable. There are videos where the "Police" openly shoots at a group of people because one of them was the suspect. Maybe this callousness is a direct result of lax gun laws ?

shmde··on Google is already pushing WEI into Chromium

Here.

shmde··on Google engineers want to make ad-blocking (near) impossible
> People don't like ads in content because it interrupts what they are trying to consume and tries to leverage them away.

Here you answered it yourself why people adblock. If ads were served on either side of the holy grail layout like the good ol days it wouldnt have been such a pain in the ass.

I remember jumping on the ad-blocking wagon when google started serving their shitty ads in between scroll content, serving diseased peoples photo ( ketto.org ) and getting frighteningly accurate/curated ads of what I searched for previously. Literally fuck google for having a digital private investigator on my ass 24/7 just to sell me shit. I am gonna use ad-blocker till the end of time.

shmde··on Ubisoft account -including games- can be permanently deleted for inactivity
Wait what the heck. How is this shit even legal ? I have a few of Ubisoft games on steam and Ubisoft's official site. I used to feel bad when I was young and pirated because I didn't have money to buy video games. Now they are just justifying reasons to pirate. Which I definitely will start if the products I bought are taken away. This is an insane *Terms and conditions.
shmde··on Lab-grown cotton is on its way to consumers
I can tell by the way you are hyping up synthetic clothing that you've never stepped foot in a humid town/city where you are constantly sweating buckets. The way synthetic clothing sticks to your skin would probably make you want to walk around naked all day.
shmde··on A glitch in the SEO matrix
This river which has turned into a giant gutter would not exist without the filth.

shmde··on You can deactivate anyone's WhatsApp account by simply sending an email

shmde··on Temporary ban on behavioural advertising on Facebook and Instagram
@ someone on hn does not notify the person. Email them instead.
shmde··on Look ma, no React: I recoded my portfolio site with vanilla everything

shmde··on FTC investigating ChatGPT over potential consumer harm
But dont they have clauses like. Our models sometimes hallucinate, give out wrong answers. Basically use at your own risk and cannot sue us if it hoes wrong
shmde··on Linux has achieved a 3% desktop market share
Thanks. Dropped them an email regarding the block.
shmde··on Linux has achieved a 3% desktop market share
Blocked from India too. After reading your comment I thought Asia was blocked. But I could read after changing location to Japan with a VPN. Cloudflare straight up blocking countries instead of putting up a captcha.
