This is welcome, useful and covers many of the salient points. However, without wanting to detract from the content, this is 2012. None of these issues are new. For people who aren't doing some or all of this, isn't it time to consider not reinventing this well-worn wheel? Libraries of reusable code; now there's a good idea! Now I know what mom meant when she talked about the OO silver bullet.
