Can't say I'll feel sorry when section 230 gets absolutely destroyed under Biden - these companies more than earned it.
The sooner media and social media companies are held accountable for polarizing people on either end, the better for this country.
I have been taking monoclonal antibodies every 2 weeks for more than a year now with Dupixent for atopic dermatitis. In my 30+ years on this earth only steroid creams ever worked to treat my eczema, that is until this monoclonal antibody treatment came along and for all intents and purposes completely cured me.
To know that a similar kind of treatment is used for covid is pretty mind boggling since both conditions have very little in common.
I live in NYC and know about 25 people who had covid, myself included, from pretty much every community.
I am a LPR and applied for a GC for my spouse 1.5 years ago.
Our I-130 was approved last March, however NVC has never receive the file. It seems that USCIS just never transferred the file to NVC even after more than 4 months.
We have sent multiple requests to NVC Research, and recently made an Ombudsman request however this does not seem to help.
What are our options at that point if USCIS just holds our file hostage for no reason?
Thank you.
See how a strawman argument works?
I never ever considered owning a gun in my entire life, but I have one now and not afraid to use it if needed. Several friends have also done the same.
The debate for gun ownership is probably dead for 1 or 2 generations, and I do not want to see a single person blaming anyone about it when I was literally told by the police the other day that I am on my own during the night of looting in NYC.
If you believe police is not needed as a form of authority, you have been living in a privileged bubble for far too long. Travel, look around, and you will see the world is not as nice as you think it is.
This is a sad day for science and these experts should be ashamed.
Very sad to see science shoot itself in the foot in the name of dubious politics.
Nobody denies that the pandemic is/was a real thing. But at that point it has been politicized ad nauseum and this is bad.
It will for sure have an impact on how much people trust experts, and general trust in experts was already bad before this. But now nobody should dare blame anyone for not believing an expert after the sham we have all seen.
Very sad that the pandemic has stopped being about science but moved to being about politics. Good luck getting compliance if there is, god forbid, a second wave or another more deadly virus in the future.
I do not care if you're black, white, asian, gay, lesbian or anything - if you break the law, threaten a police officer, or simply ask completely irresponsibly around them, you should be punished appropriately.
What I DO agree with is perhaps greater transparency from the police. This is a problem that can be fixed. Anyone wishing to defund or even abolish the police clearly has lived a coddled life for way too long and doesn't know what happens when police can't do their jobs.
Be smart and don't let poisonous politics cloud your judgement - police are nowhere near as bad as some media would love to make you believe.
I have seen multiple independent studies from different countries coming down with a very similar conclusion that children are not good vectors for this thing to spread.
If Twitter wants to step over its bounds as a platform, then it will absolutely be scrutinized as such.
What I find incredibly dishonest is that Twitter's head of "integrity" is a well-known troll who has on multiple occasions called Trump a nazi and more. How can we take their "integrity" seriously when it is led by someone with such an extreme political bias that there is no doubt this will impact what gets censored or not.
IMO this is not Twitter's role and a very slippery slope.
Otherwise a country that does close to no testing might have the illusion of doing very well, just like a country doing tons of tests might have the illusion of doing very poorly (like the US, whose ratio of positive has been declining for 1.5 months but number of cases is rather flat due to ever increasing testing)
This is why closing schools is an extremely poor idea. I suspect with the number of countries in Europe reopening schools, this will put pressure in the US on states still blindly refusing to do it despite all the facts.
How about saying "Young, healthy people die of the flu every year"?
You have to look at trends. And it's been clear for a while that young, healthy people have a risk fo dying from covid trending towards zero in most (all?) countries.
You may dislike the current administration but they were elected democratically within the process set forth by the United States. If Joe Biden is elected next Nov the same way I have no doubts the "other side" will just accept it the same way. That's how democracy works. So again things like civil war, fascism, I just don't see it.
We'll be fine. And it's certainly this documentary selling out that will bring forth the downfall of our civilization.
We talk about it every week, and it's become clear that everyone is looking forward to the day where offices reopen.
I really don't see this trend of people relocating. And for those considering it, once they are made aware that salaries will scale with location it's probably going to be a strong enough deterrent.
First Twitter was already moving towards permanent WFH before the pandemic, it only accelerated their plans. I highly doubt (m)any other companies were also seriously considering that move before the pandemic.
Second, working in a remote only team is very different from working in an office, or even from occasionally working from home. I have seen the best managers get completely clueless when managing full remote people.
Third you lose a lot of things by going full remote. You can no longer have hallway conversations, sharing new ideas over lunch, trying to pitch new ideas organically. You lose a lot of spontaneity by going full remote, which I fully expect to impact innovation potential. Some of the best ideas in my group are things that came up from organic conversations that we have been productizing.
Fourth has to do with company culture. I can't speak for every company, but I know that at my company there is a very clear favoring people local to where the HQ is located, probably at least in part for the reasons above. I don't see that changing easily. East coast to West coast in the same team means you have 3 hours a day where you can't have your whole team available at the same time.
What I expect to happen is most likely much greater flexibility for companies that were not open about it before, but full time remote for everyone seems like a huge stretch even over several years.
If that is the case then places like NYC are probably pretty close.
I had symptoms but it honestly was more like a mild flu.
So please stop your fear mongering and holier than thou attitude, just because you had it and it was bad doesn't mean that everyone will be the same. In fact serological studies prove that the overwhelming majority barely have any symptoms, and of those who do even fewer develop into a severe illness.
So unless they can maintain this type of lockdown for the next 6 months, they will see a resurgence, just as they see every year corona viruses spread starting in June.
A lot probably has to do with temperature and general climate.
I ironically think that Europe and US east coast may be in the best position, they went through hell and some of their areas are probably very close to herd immunity.
