sheikhnbake··on Seattle Bans Rental Junk Fees
Maybe we'll see an exodus of landlords as this becomes a less economically viable lifestyle.

Can property owners not just go to small claims court?
sheikhnbake··on A Cop Searched 19,000 Flock Cameras Across 1,558 Cities. His Reason: 'LMAO'
I don't think it would need to validate the applicability of the warrant to the requested data. It would just be checking that a valid warrant exists. The deterrent to abuse would be that a Judge's name is attached to each warrant. Cops have lied to judges before to get bogus warrants but I think it would make abuse less likely overall.
sheikhnbake··on A Cop Searched 19,000 Flock Cameras Across 1,558 Cities. His Reason: 'LMAO'
That's a fair point. The only other validation gate I can think of within our current system would be a valid warrant number. A system where the warrant automatically limits the search by time and geo-fence could be interesting.
sheikhnbake··on A Cop Searched 19,000 Flock Cameras Across 1,558 Cities. His Reason: 'LMAO'
That wasn't an initial safety feature. It was added after abuse had already been reported. Flock also needs to require a case number or some other method of validation for legitimate use. Presuming the continue to exist in any capacity. Otherwise we're just going to keep discovering incidents like this.
sheikhnbake··on Young Americans have never witnessed a functioning foreign policy
Which Millennials? It's hard to take that sentiment seriously when children and home ownership are out of reach luxuries for a significant portion of the generation which was not the case following the post-WWII economy, as evidenced by boomers' namesake.
sheikhnbake··on Trump Media to sell instant access to 'market-moving' social posts
There are quite a few democratic socialists running on that platform across the country.
sheikhnbake··on Americans don't know how to fight AI so they're fighting data centers
Every day is an endless stream of media and commentary on the illegal things he's doing with no accountability. Even in the highly unlikely event of an impeachment conviction, I don't see how that changes anything from a practical standpoint. The DoJ isn't going to enforce the conviction, and military leadership has steadily been replaced with yes-people since the admin took office.
sheikhnbake··on Americans don't know how to fight AI so they're fighting data centers
Perhaps that's where we would disagree. I don't think congress has the means to claw anything back at this point or in the future. We're essentially well into a self-coup
sheikhnbake··on Americans don't know how to fight AI so they're fighting data centers
In the context of the current admin:

- They have impeached already, multiple times.

- Congress has no means of enforcing any laws they pass aside from trying to withhold funding.

- Hearings are political circus at best with no real consequences. See: 0 US based Epstein abusers in any form of incarceration.

- ah yes, amending the constitution. a very realistic and responsive option

Since none of these are practical, then congress wields no practical power. In principle and technicalities are useless. Even if the dems were able to take a progressive super majority, unless they passed a law granting congress law enforcement powers w/ funding they're declawed.

They have impeached already, multiple times.
sheikhnbake··on Americans don't know how to fight AI so they're fighting data centers
The only power congress theoretically has to impact the administration is that of the purse.

But the admin has repeatedly ignored such restrictions. This check on power also loses it's teeth when the oligarchs align themselves behind the executive branch.

Not great. There's so much competition for so few entry-level positions.
sheikhnbake··on War game exposed U.S. vulnerability to low-tech warfare
The after action report was only recently declassified. This war game has been pretty widely publicized. Especially after the retired marine general that ran the OPFOR complained about it being rigged.

There's also a higher chance that wealthy perpetrators of sexual violence are under-represented in data. There's no denying the relationship between the 'justice' system and the wealthy. Case in point: Judge Persky in the Brock Turner trial.

That 30% have also been in a decades long information silo that has convinced them that anyone marginally to the left of them is either mentally ill or demons. I grew up with Michael Savage on the radio.
sheikhnbake··on DHS demanded Google surrender data on a Canadian man over anti-ICE posts
In theory yes. In practice, the working class is competing with corporations that are flooding the political arena with billions. This was already a daunting challenge to deal with even before the oligarchy went mask off across all branches of government.
sheikhnbake··on Bankruptcies increase 11.9 percent
Is this what they meant by a return to normalcy?
sheikhnbake··on Waymo in Portland
Unfortunately, until something big happens in the US, autonomous vehicles will be more accessible to working class americans than good and reliable mass transit, especially outside of major population centers.

sheikhnbake··on The dangers of California's legislation to censor 3D printing
That's the entire point. The only federally regulated part that requires a background check is the receiver, which can be made on entry level printers by virtually anyone that can read.
sheikhnbake··on The dangers of California's legislation to censor 3D printing
At this point with a 5,000 round endurance for a plastic AK receiver, I think it's fair to say the 'project' has reached maturity. Especially when this is all completed on entry level printers
sheikhnbake··on Farmer arrested for speaking too long at datacenter town hall vows to fight
Even so that's very strange way for a trespassing charge to be carried out if that's how it went down.

Typically when someone refuses to leave, police inform the person that they are being formally trespassed, at which point they have the option to leave voluntarily at which point they are only allowed back at the trespassee's discretion. Not sure how that would work for public places where people have to conduct municipal business.
