eh, except for those who paid the 2.99 for the Pro upgrade.

shbooms··on Show HN: A Firefox add-on to strip Google search results of 'blacklisted' URLs
I don't believe you can accomplish precisely what this does with uBO. You can blacklist your browser itself from connecting to certain domains with uBO but you can't fully remove them from within a google search results page since the google results page isn't explicitly connecting to the domains, just displaying links to do so.

Even with some advanced cosmetic rules the most you could do is remove the <a> tag fields, not the full title/text of the results.

shbooms··on Ask HN: Dark mode for HN please?
I use some hacked together uBlock Origin filters that do a fairly decent job at giving HN dark mode if you care to take it for a spin:

    ycombinator.com##html:style(background-color: #3e3e42 !important)
    ycombinator.com###hnmain:style(background-color: #2E2E31 !important)
    ycombinator.com##.age:style(color: #ccc !important)
    ycombinator.com##.c00:style(color: #ccc !important)
    ycombinator.com##.comhead > a:style(color: #dedede !important)
    ycombinator.com##.comhead:style(color: #dedede !important)
    ycombinator.com##.hnuser:style(color: #ccc !important)
    ycombinator.com##.subtext > a:link:style(color: #ccc !important)
    ycombinator.com##.subtext > a:style(color: #ccc !important)
    ycombinator.com##.subtext:style(color: #ccc !important)
    ycombinator.com##.title > a:style(color: #dedede !important)
    ycombinator.com##a:link:style(color: #ccc !important)

shbooms··on Google bans Zoom from employees' computers
> The only thing Google Docs has over MS is the collaboration.

As someone who has had to build relatively complex tools in both Sheets and Excel, I would have to say Sheets has done a much more impressive job with their builtin formulas/functions than Excel.

shbooms··on Google bans Zoom from employees' computers
> and they know people will get a much better experience in the native app.

not if I'm a user who is actively trying to not install the native app. for me, and likely many others, security and privacy trump performance benchmarks and UI/UX all day, every day.

shbooms··on Zoom’s Use of Facebook’s SDK in iOS Client
Headline should technically read:

"Zoom Removes Code That Sends Data to Facebook when you first open the app"

as per the article:

"Motherboard downloaded the update and verified that it does not send data to Facebook upon opening."

It's a bit naive to just assume that just because they don't send the data right away, that it's not getting sent at some point later on.

shbooms··on Windows code-execution zeroday is under active exploit, Microsoft warns
> 1 - article has wrong info. Under Windows 10 the name is ATMLIB.DLL. ATMFD.DLL is the name for older version of Windows

I don't think they have the wrong info. According to the MS advisory they linked (https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-us/security-guidance/ad...) it would appear that ATMLIB.dll is not actually affected as there is no mention of it at all, only ATMFD.dll. Also implied by the advisroy is that ATMFD.dll is present on Windows 10 but only versions prior to 1709:

> Rename ATMFD.DLL

> Please note: ATMFD.DLL is not present in Windows 10 installalations starting with Windows 10, version 1709. Newer versions do not have this DLL.

True, IronPython3 isn't ready and with 2.7 EOL I would say that it may not be a great fit for someone currently weighing up their options between it and pythonnet to use in a current project.

Development on IP3 is, however, still very alive and active so I wouldn't consider the entire project dead:

A similar project to pythonnet (a CPython package that implements .NET) is IronPython (a C# implementation of Python 2.7) the latter of which isn't limited by the GIL since it's not using CPython.

shbooms··on Kill Sticky Headers (2013)
you can also use uBO's ":style()" function to override css properties and effectively "un-sticky" the majority of header/nav elements if you prefer not removing them completely. I use these two filters to globally un-stick every header and nav element which uses CSS position properties to sticky themselves (which is a good many of them):

    ##header:style(position: absolute !important)
    ##nav:style(position: absolute !important)
