"There were a ton of issues using Gecko, starting with (at the time) no CDM (HTML5 DRM module) so no HD video content from the major studios, Netflix, Amazon, etc. -- Firefox had an Adobe deal but it was not transferable or transferred to any other browser that used Gecko -- and running the gamut of paper-cuts to major web incompatibilities especially on mobile, vs. WebKit-lineage engines such as Chromium/Blink."
Searchable. Works with sync. Stores the tabs as bookmarks.
EDIT: and recommended so it gets vetted by Mozilla.
It is untrustworthy as it will keep turning on features. Example - sync. If you aren't using sync, it will eventually turn it on. If you aren't syncing history it will turn that on at some point.
At least Brave and Chrome don't do that.
Edge has the best implementation where you can define sites opening in certain profiles. Pity ms ruined that browser - it is completely untrustworthy with it auto turning on options such as syncing.
Makes it really hard to forget those tasks.
I still feel Logseq is still a better outliner (although I don't use it), Obsidian is better at handling the other use cases.
I was reminded of this episode. From this episode it felt as though she was prevented from letting go and moving on by the AI.
Firefox issues I have
- profiles have no indicator on the taskbar so it isn't easy to see which is which when using multiple profiles at the same time (I don't want to have to use multiple Firefox versions just to know which profile is which on the taskbar).
- when clicking an external link in another app I want it to open in whichever profile I used last, like chromium browsers
- No pwa's (I don't want to use an external app)
- Compact mode being unsupported (when watching media a pwa shows the biggest video view, Firefox non compact the least)
- Ads being incorporated
- Ads for Mozilla products
Things I like - uBO
- Recommended extensions so I can have some faith they are checked to be legit.
Firefox just feels like a browser stuck in the past.Currently using Brave. I don't like or use the crypto crap or most of their other big features (talk, vpn). I don't love any of our current browser options.
Edit: formatting
Some of the issues I saw are
If you use multiple profiles at the same time there is no way to distinguish them on the task bar.
I also couldn’t find a tab handling method I like.
They also don’t seem to release on a regular cadence which makes me wonder how they are doing security updates.
Their UI is not open source.

“ On January 28, 2020, the Mozilla Foundation announced that the project would henceforth be operating from a new wholly owned subsidiary, MZLA Technologies Corporation, in order to explore offering products and services that were not previously possible and to collect revenue through partnerships and non-charitable donations.[69][70]”
That recall still doesn’t fix the underlying issue with the autopilot.
Vivaldi and Brave are going to maintain the code so at least uBlock Origin can work. Nobody knows how this will play out as the forks won’t want to stray faraway from the chromium code as that would add a lot of overhead.
I tried a bunch of the forks, didn’t like Vivaldi, don’t like some of Braves crap, and won’t use the Chinese browser Opera.
Ended up moving our family back to Firefox.
I miss chromium’s better profile management and the app as a window. Rest of the family don’t miss any of those. Other than that happy with Firefox.
I had FF slow to a crawl and when I checked it was using 7gb’s of ram. Turns out a site I had turned off uBO in had opened up a sub frame that was blasting ads. So it is interesting to try to see what is going on with about:processes.
I’d guess probably came across it randomly and liked the word. Seems like it comes up in crosswords https://crosswordtracker.com/clue/hornswoggle/
Also funnily not related is a WWE stage wrestler name who had a YouTube video done in them a year ago. https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hornswoggle.

EDIT: Discussion from 6 months ago
Also he has some great intro videos on YouTube for the way he uses Logseq https://youtube.com/@OneStutteringMind
I prefer Logseq because Obsidian gets messy quickly with the structure for me. I end up having to use the OmniSearch plugin to find things quickly.
EDIT: Main website loaded and the Live demo seems to work.
Would this be a set-up that creates an agenda that works (by using 2 extensions)?

Dataview is such a great extension.
