shardullavekar··on Show HN: Unlogged – open-source record and replay for Java
We will develop one if atleast 100 folks ask for it on our git issues.
shardullavekar··on Show HN: Unlogged – open-source record and replay for Java
with a few modifications, it should.
shardullavekar··on Show HN: Unlogged – open-source record and replay for Java
not yet, we want the record and replay to show the visual difference on android rather than just method return value difference/failure in assertions. This will need some work.
shardullavekar··on Show HN: Unlogged – open-source record and replay for Java
yes, work is in progress there.

Link to the source code: https://github.com/unloggedio/unlogged-sdk

will fix the link on the plugin page, thanks for noticing it.

shardullavekar··on Level-up your Java Debugging Skills with on-demand Debugging
we used the on-demand debugger when creating our sdk extended by lombok and found it very helpful. we also built an IDE plugin that lets you call a Java function directly, without having to expose an http end point, check us here: unlogged.io

shardullavekar··on Predictive Debugging: A Game-Changing Look into the Future
time travel debugger for Java, since we worked in financial domain where Java was predominant. We couldn't debug on remote machines for the lack of access. We had to log a lot and it felt like guesswork. Having a debugger with a back button made a lot of sense. We logged everything by default and reverse mapped it with the code, so that we could reverse-F8.
shardullavekar··on Predictive Debugging: A Game-Changing Look into the Future
We started off as a time travel debugger for Java coders and failed to gain any traction. (our hn launch: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31286126)

Pivoted to record and replay. Developers can put assertion + mocking around the replay. We are working on a feature that shows what _value_ each variable contains. Check unlogged.io

shardullavekar··on Conversational AI over Slack Powered by Struct and OpenAI
this reminded me of QnA maker from microsoft. Never really worked for me.

This feels much better.

will try it for our discord channel.

shardullavekar··on Test Against Reality
This very much captures what I am working on. It is (currently java) a sdk dependency + ide plugin, which records input/return values of Java methods. Once recorded you can either instantly replay it on a running process (also works on hot-reloads) OR save it as a fixture which you can replay after a process restart. In our workflow we save these fixtures to git so anyone in the team can replay them. But there are a couple of things I feel are needed on top of this

  - a flexible assertion framework, currently I am doing a straightforward string equals to identify breaking changes
  - a mocking feature for downstream calls, currently nothing is mocked out so it is basically an integration test, but as the discussion shows, mocking can be quite handy in a variety of situations

Happy to answer any questions you may have.

shardullavekar··on Our Shift to Usage-Based Pricing
That could have happened if the supply chain moved fast. In our case, they took their sweet time and played cold. They were also not convinced for a lock-in/renewal at a price (although negotiated). From their experience, they almost had to renew a SaaS software once it was 2 years into the company.

Open source + pay as you use + capped pricing solves a lot of it.

shardullavekar··on Our Shift to Usage-Based Pricing
I worked at a large enterprise and similar SaaS tools were outright rejected because the per user/month pricing easily crossed $20. It became unviable to use such tools. We had a lot of to and fro with supply chain over this. This pricing shift addresses the concerns supply chain had back then.
shardullavekar··on Ask HN: Who needs beta testers?
Project Description: Unlogged records code execution and auto generates unit tests for the java code.

What do you want to be tested:

We want to see

1. if developers are able to add our agent

2. Call APIs from postman and

3. Generate a unit test.

4. Run and see if the unit test ran as expected.

shardullavekar··on Ask HN: What developer tools would you like to see?
I am building Videobug - we record run time code execution and play it back in the IDE. We aim for Quick bug fixes, better code understanding and automatic test case generation.

Our Show HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31286126 Our demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aD4CV7UL0RM

Would love to get your feedback.

shardullavekar··on You don’t need to be “enterprise-ready” or “scalable”
We are working on Videobug - it records code execution on production and plays in the developer IDE. Our Show HN here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31286126

shardullavekar··on Show HN: Videobug – The time travel debugger for JVM
Thanks Arpit, in the next release we plan to have collaboration features where customers or QAs can share Videobug session with devs directly. It will short circuit the whole bug raising Jira/Slack cycle.
shardullavekar··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2019)
Daptin | Golang developer | Bangalore or REMOTE | Part-time

Hi, we have built dapt.in - an open source content management software. We are looking to build a SaaS deployment pipeline on top of heroku/digitalocean.

When a user comes to our website and signs up, they should get an instance of dapt.in hosted on heroku or digital ocean.

1. You should be familiar with deployments using heroku/digitalocean APIs. 2. You should be well versed with cron jobs. 3. You should know golang really well.

Please reach out if this description fits you. We can discuss further in detail.

shardullavekar··on Show HN: Devsupport.ai – Automate API integrations
For our learning, can you point out few products?
shardullavekar··on SQRL – Secure Quick Reliable Login
We offer a seamless way of logging in: both on smartphones (Android) and Websites.

App developers integrate AuthMe and instead of passwords, ask for setting a 4 X 4 pattern on which we profile user behaviour.

Every time a user has to log in, they have to enter the same pattern and AuthMe offers a behavioural score of the user. (Download our Android app and see the trust scores if you can.)

On the website, users enter their primary key and get a push notification prompt to log in with the 4 X 4 pattern lock.

Just a pattern lock? Of course not! We profile users on a set of 12 behavioural characters which are difficult to copy.

Developers have a choice to disable to behavioural auth part - in which case we are free too. We charge only when you enable behavioural auth.

Hope you try the product.

shardullavekar··on SQRL – Secure Quick Reliable Login
Have a look at https://authme.io - we have both app and SDK for a push notification based authentication.

Do have a look at https://medium.com/@shardul.citrus/passwords-bad-ux-security...

P.s. I work for AuthMe.

shardullavekar··on Why you should replace passwords in your application, right now!
Happy to launch AuthMe - we turn your behaviour into your password. Do try the product and let us know your feedback.
