sharadov··on Your CEO is suffering from AI psychosis
Agents are conniving yes men, and who usually loves yes men? Leadership! Most developers are rational and skeptical, hence the backlash from most in the community.
sharadov··on Men who stare at walls
Why not just take a quick stroll, if you are close to anything green - park, nature even better. Nature soothes like nothing else.
sharadov··on 4TB of voice samples just stolen from 40k AI contractors at Mercor
Mercor is the most scummy company out there, run by a bunch of sleazeball 20 somethings who are getting a lot of press as the youngest billionaires in the making.

Can't wait for them to crash and burn.

sharadov··on Meta tells staff it will cut 10% of jobs
Not as easy as it sounds, most acquisitions are not integrated well. He was astute in determining they were going to be 100X what he paid( and he paid a lot by the standards of the day).
sharadov··on Meta tells staff it will cut 10% of jobs
I plan to read it, I've no doubt he's a douchebag, but most hyper-successful CEOs are psychopaths.
sharadov··on Meta tells staff it will cut 10% of jobs
No I don't that's why I said I don't like him or the platform. But the products are great, and there is no competition. And neither India or Latin America built domestic products to rival Whatsapp/Insta/FB.
sharadov··on Meta tells staff it will cut 10% of jobs
As much as I hate Zuck - he's a ballsy CEO, he makes big bets, some work and some don't. Instagram and Whatsapp did! Heck in Asia and Latin America entire economies use Whatsapp for transacting business.
sharadov··on Meta tells staff it will cut 10% of jobs
Tech debt and maintainability were important because time was of the essence in another era. If the cycles get compressed by say 95%, to hell with it, just trash the old and write everything from scratch, start from a clean slate each time?
sharadov··on Affirm Retooled for Agentic Software Development in One Week
Are these guys public? Can I short them? Oh, even easier maybe just wager on Kalshi?
sharadov··on Notes from the SF peptide scene
I think those days of "high sincerity" and trying to change the world are long gone and replaced by "high charlatanism" and making a killing.

I don't blame them - the collective optimism about AI has been replaced by paranoia.

So everyone is trying to make a fast buck before the music dies.

sharadov··on Show HN: Brutalist Concrete Laptop Stand (2024)
work of art!
sharadov··on The back story behind the first "$1.8B" dollar "AI Company"
Strange but I smelled a fraud as soon as I finished reading the NYT article.

This is the second time in my life that this has happened to me.

First time was when I interviewed at this social media startup which had raised a 100 mil during the pandemic, and promptly collapsed, all numbers there were cooked.

sharadov··on The cult of vibe coding is dogfooding run amok
Maybe vibe coding gets so good that we completely trash what was written and build from zero. I've seen that with badly written code as well, easier to rewrite than fix the un-goldly mess.
sharadov··on In Japan, the robot isn't coming for your job; it's filling the one nobody wants
Rather than encouraging immigration they come up with this.
sharadov··on Marc Andreessen is wrong about introspection
The problem is with the media pouring endless attention on these tech bros and bestowing the mantel of expertise in every field on them - philosophy, politics, religion, sociology.

So now they spout their mouth off and the media hangs on their every word and debates it.

sharadov··on Mercor says it was hit by cyberattack tied to compromise LiteLLM
Could not happened to a more usurious company.
sharadov··on The OpenAI Graveyard: All the Deals and Products That Haven't Happened
The circular deals are getting old - it's like rearranging the chairs on the Titanic's deck.
sharadov··on Oracle slashes 30k jobs
I was a SQL server DBA early in my career, I've not used it in the last decade, glad to hear that it's still a great product.
sharadov··on OpenAI closes funding round at an $852B valuation
I can understand why Amazon, MS and Nvidia invested - nefarious circular deals, but Softbank? I mean who the heck is giving Masayoshi Son money to invest? Behooves me!
sharadov··on Oracle slashes 30k jobs
SQL Server was pretty good until they went the Oracle way with their licensing shenanigans, but even with that they were a lot cheaper than Oracle. In fact SQL server was one of the few great products that came out of MS.
sharadov··on LLMs can be exhausting
It's exhausting - sometimes it feels like you are continuously redirecting a deviant child who just won't give up on his shenanigans.
sharadov··on How we hacked McKinsey's AI platform
No, they don't have world class technology teams, they hire contractors to do all the tech stuff, their expertise is in management, yes that's world class.
sharadov··on Workers who love 'synergizing paradigms' might be bad at their jobs
When you can't convince, confuse is how you sum up corporate speak.
sharadov··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
I can't believe that people are so naively optimistic - it's not too long that we fought endless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and to what end?

The Taliban ruling Afghanistan and an unstable coalition in Iraq.

You know how much we spent? $5.8 to $8 trillion.

sharadov··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
War is America's business and business is good.
sharadov··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
Yeah right and democracy was created in Iraq and Afghanistan as well!
sharadov··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
Meanwhile Pakistan launched airstrikes on Afghanistan

sharadov··on Mac mini will be made at a new facility in Houston
This podcast between Tyler and Dan was a great listen - https://conversationswithtyler.com/episodes/dan-wang/

Dan came off as very China biased and Tyler literally schooled him on a few occasions.

But despite that, there are grains of truth in what he said, we have lawyers turned politicians at the helm in the US, so we have a great democratic system but on the flip side hardly any engineers leading us to the predicament we are in now, where nothing ever gets built.

sharadov··on Silicon Valley can't import talent like before. So it's exporting jobs
I am more interested in 2nd order effects, people get experience working at these larger companies and leave to start their own. Exactly how SV works.
sharadov··on Silicon Valley can't import talent like before. So it's exporting jobs
33K workers added in 2025 is a drop in the bucket for India. India graduates way too many engineers vs not as many jobs created.
