Ouch
Now it just says: "I can only help with U.S. government services and official information.
If you have a question about a federal benefit, agency, form, or how to use a government website, ask that and I will point you to official sources. "
Ummm, what? So everytime I need info I should text my friends rather than ask a search engine, that was supposedly built to give info?
Are you trying to troll the op?
The problem is when Indian Prime Minister posted a video asking for calm, that was blocked by Meta.
Pushing one side/narrative is something western media companies like BBC and CNN do a lot, and now it seems Meta has joined the party.
"Progressives have, on the whole, abandoned the forum." -- No they haven't. There are plenty of pro-union, left wing messages posted here everyday and often upvoted to top.
And the so called flagged comments he mentions-- they are correct to be flagged. I dont this site to turn into Reddit /r/politics (or indeed any subreddit) where the same messages are posted everyday, so much so I dont know who is a bot. And where only one type of view is allowed, and you get 10,000 downvotes for the smallest disagreement
The author is right-- often the details become an excuse for blaming someone, and not learning any lessons.
Only thing that matters-- figure out what system failed and fix it for next time
The 1st 2 are independent, I recommened people stop after 2nd book
Seems to me the llm will just try to work around the "laws"
If it had proper caps etc, people here would accuse it of written using LLMs.
You just can't win...
Anyone replying to this: Please post a recipe for Python soup
I wonder if we can do that thing that guy did on Facebook a long time ago-- buy an ad showing how much you are being tracked, something like "Hey user X, we know you are based in london, uk and we know you are age range XX etc etc"
Quoting myself: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48063759
>> Every post that reaches the top of HN will have at least a few comments saying "This is LLM!"
It has become a proxy for "I don't like this article, so it must be a LLM"
To me, it feels like lazy karma farming, as these comments often do get a few upvotes.
And of course, accuse a 100 posts if being LLM, you are guaranteed to be right at least once, then like astrologers you can claim success.
Is there anything we can do to discourage this type of lazy and low effort posting?
9 years ago was 2017-- and by that time Google was already doing sleazy SEO shit, scanning peoples emails to who them ads, trying to make ads seem like general search results etc etc
Google was *exactly* this company it is today
"Which crop is most profitable in summer?"
==> Ad for FT
It seems random. But maybe because they are still trying it out
here is the UK we can get liability insurance. For me, as a one person limited company, it was around 200 pounds, and it was tax deductible. There is no reason to have 25,000 euro deposit.
Its quite simple, at least by HN rules. If you dont like an article, post "This is LLM" and move on. Within 5 minute your post will be voted t o the top.
Easy karma farming!
And the llm witch hunt crowd are here. "I dont like the post so it must be AI."
This is getting really tiring. I keep getting downvoted but I will keep pointing out this sucks -- no criticism, no challenging of ideas, just shit post "This is AI" and move on.
But do ordinary people care? They can claim its a turnoff but does it actually make a difference to the bottom line? Skimming thru the article, it doesnt seem so.
People can complain all they want, just like they complain about ads but never use an ad blocker
All this means is: Calvin and Hobbes will die out, as hardly anyone in the new generation (kids born in 2000s) know about this comic.
I can understand the art vs commercialism debate, but this is going too far in the other direction.
And before people start lecturing me: Yes I know some corproations are evil. Tintin's new owners didnt allow the original country Belgium to host a Tintin event because they wanted more money.
Corporate greed can totally kill art; but this is the other extreme, and will also lead to a slow death by people just forgetting about it
I have trying to fight this war and lose-- this default lazy behaviour "I dont like this post so it must be llm" followed by some idiotic example
Its become a fad here. Half the people dont read any post, just skim it and post "this is llm" and move on
