Regarding the development & deployment speed, electron is still the king. it is just a little bit bigger.
shanghaikid··on Aspect-Oriented Programming
Dojo's aspect feature is one of my favorite feature in the framework.

https://dojotoolkit.org/reference-guide/1.9/dojo/aspect.html

Now dojo is gone. But sometimes I still will port this feature into react/vue project.

shanghaikid··on BBEdit: Where Respect Is Due
Mac: BBEdit, textmate, Win: notepad++, dreamweaver(I really like it) The good old days.
shanghaikid··on VanJS (Vanilla JavaScript): smallest reactive UI framework
nice project, very cool, but I don't see the meaning to do this.

nowadays, most small project can use vanilla javascript, if they don't need a framework, they really don't need it.

if we are building a large project, why not use react/vue/svelte ? better docs, better features, better community.

shanghaikid··on What is a Vector Database? (2021)
Why not choose an open-source solution https://github.com/milvus-io/milvus, free!
shanghaikid··on Observable Plot: A JavaScript library for exploratory data visualization

In old days, software is not that soft. Floppy disk, CD, DVD are gone now.
shanghaikid··on WasmEdge
Although I know it's not WASM's problem, but I really hope WASM can support GRPC.
shanghaikid··on JupyterLite: a JupyterLab distribution that runs in the browser
JupyterLite is awesome. But I hope wasm can support grpc.

Is it hard to fix?
shanghaikid··on TypeScript is now officially 10 years old
Typescript is for big project and team collaboration. JS is still my choice for personal or small project. Fast!
shanghaikid··on Show HN: Ezno, a type checker for JavaScript and optimiser for React
Typescript is great, for team collaboration, code refactor, etc, but I don't think every project should use it, sometimes javascript is much easier and faster to implement.

shanghaikid··on Grok {Shan, Shui}*: Advent of understanding the generative art
That's impressive.
shanghaikid··on Ask HN: Do we need JavaScript web frameworks?
It depends on what you do.

If it is simple page, vanilla js is enough. If it is a simple page application, using vanilla js is ok, but eventually you will find you need a framework or your code base is already a framework.

shanghaikid··on Ask HN: What’s a productivity tip you can share?
Paper, pen, that's it.
shanghaikid··on Find anything fast with Google's vector search technology
If you are not using GCP or you want to have an open-source alternative, Please check my project Milvus vector database (https://milvus.io).

We've published a bunch of demo cases powered by vector database on GitHub. https://github.com/milvus-io/bootcamp

We have built Milvus vector database upon ANN libraries like faiss, annoy, nsmlib, etc.

We are aiming to create a cloud-scalable vector database. So Milvus comes to the crossroad of vector search and cloud database. There are many interesting system design topics in the development of Milvus 2.0. We will continue to share our experiences and thoughts on this topic.
