shak77··on Don't tell people to turn off Windows Update
You can, using group policies or changing the registry.
shak77··on A plan to rescue the Web from the Internet
If I wanted to rescue something from the Internet, it would not be the web
shak77··on IOTA: A tangled mess
Not saying this is the case but to me Java looks like the choice of someone who's fresh out of school. Nobody would start a new project in Java if he had the choice.

shak77··on Firefox is on a slippery slope
I use Chrome (not Chromium) and it has never asked me to create an account to download addons. :/
shak77··on Firefox is on a slippery slope
Chrome pushes you to create a Google account to sync. Firefox pushes you to create a Firefox account to sync. You'll tell me where the difference is.

At least Google does not also push you to create a Pocket account... ;^)

Mozilla died the day they forced Eich out.
shak77··on Why are Japanese macaques humping deer?
I see absolutely nothing weird with the photo.

I don't know what the hell is going on with Mozilla. Ever tried to install Firefox on Android? The new tab page is full of ads by default!

And this is the company we are supposed to trust? Because right now I feel like I trust Google more, and that's a lot to say.

This is what it looks like: https://imgur.com/a/mriUw

It scared the hell out of me! Are these guys losing their minds?

It was reported as a bug and the response thus far is indeed underwhelming for such a severe issue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1424977

It became Outlook like five years ago, unless I missed something.

You are really arrogant to believe Facebook is not useful to anybody.

What are the numbers?

Is Havok really mandatory? Wouldn't it be possible to replace Havok with Bullet or some other related system?

What's "Amazon integration"?

And why is Amazon developing a game engine?

shak77··on No need to pinkify – Girls get interested in tech because it is interesting
Absolutely nothing... That's the point.
shak77··on No need to pinkify – Girls get interested in tech because it is interesting
I agree with this, girls that like coding aren't usually very interested in girly stuff. I don't think you can lure feminine girls into coding just by pinkifying it. All of this is just demeaning the profession.

>When did it made sense to parents to let their kids go to school with a tool known for its distraction impact ?

What makes you think parents are responsible? Most of the time they are even less responsible than their children.

shak77··on A list of ways to “Break the Internet” for the 48 hours before the FCC vote
Same. Annoying liberals is good. Annoying pro-NN drones is also good. I enjoy living in a country without NN. So all is good.
shak77··on TP-Link firmware sends six DNS requests and one NTP query every 5 seconds
Most normal access points I've used won't work as wifi repeaters because they can't be in master and managed mode at the same time.
shak77··on Microsoft's Edge browser is in serious trouble
It's sad how such a good engine is completely ruined by such a bad UI toolkit. I think has never happened in the history of browsers. I would give Edge a chance if it used a normal UI, but the metro one is ugly and performs laughably poorly.

I wonder how the engine developers feel about that, pouring their hearts in their work only to see it being worthless because of a managerial decision.

shak77··on Litecoin and Ethereum buys and sells are temporarily disabled
