This guy doesn’t know what he is talking about. Mises institute has a bunch of crackpots that are not respected by actual economists:

sganesh··on Ask HN: buying your own time.
One option is moving to another country for those six months. Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina if you want stay in the Americas. Thailand, Philipines, India, China if you want to go to Asia. If you don't own a house, this is a good option. Sell your car & you'll have the money.

sganesh··on Ask HN: Equity for a first employee
Depends on the pay. If you're paying market, < 1 %. If you're not paying market, match the difference to a max of 3%. Either way, make sure it is vested 1/36 every month for a period of 36 months. But if you get bought out, or go IPO before that time frame, make sure all of that is vested. And also, if you get funding that pays out the founders in some way, find a way to pay something out to the employees too.

sganesh··on Ask HN: How do I regain my attention span?
I usually take off a few weeks, leave my laptop & phone, pack a backpack, and find a remote beach or mountains :) Even if i have to take a paycut, I do this every three to four months. One way this helps me relax and rejuvenate, on the other hand I'm forced to finish the projects I take, so no one needs me during this period of time off.

As far as I know, women date by "how you make them feel?" not how a guy looks :)
sganesh··on Ask HN: How can a Web Developer get into Bioinformatics?
Some of these jobs look like a good place to start in the field.. http://www.bioinformatics.org/jobs/ The best way to get in is to find what these companies are looking for and start honing your skills in that direction.
sganesh··on Ask HN: Alternative careers for a developer
If you're in the US, you can become a foreign service officer as they need a lot of information technology people in different areas. If you're interested in living in different parts of the world, this would be a good career path.

sganesh··on Keep losing freelance work
The rule i usually use is take your yearly salary and divide by 1000 (not 100) and add another 10% to 15% to it.
