sgallant··on iPhone Duo
why is Apple releasing new products when Siri is falling so short compared to the industry. Make Siri amazing would improve every apple product immensely.
sgallant··on iPhone Duo
totally agree with this
sgallant··on Seeing beyond BMI: Estimating cardiometabolic risk with smartphone imagery
If this gets good enough, you could imagine your phone periodically tracking body composition and combining it with wearables, bloodwork, glucose, etc. Suddenly some measurements that currently require a clinic and specialized equipment become essentially free and continuous.

...at the same time, giving Google/Apple photos of your body is creepy

sgallant··on Being ambitious and being a dad
This hits home
sgallant··on I Think You Might Be Fooling Yourself with AI
I appreciate how the author is explicit about their bias.

This opinion piece is more what he wants to happen rather than what's actually happening on the ground

sgallant··on Annoying and alarming things about OpenCode
Just checked out the video...you, my friend, could be a professional voice actor (assuming that job still exists in the future).
sgallant··on Half-Baked Product
Agreed. This could be a story about my last startup... A good reminder.
sgallant··on Dirty Little Zine – a tool for making an 8 page printable Zine
Great idea! I love the simplicity of this app.
sgallant··on Show HN: Audiomass – a free, open-source multitrack audio editor for the web
This is great. I need to do audio work this coming week and was dreading Audacity.
sgallant··on Ask HN: Who is using OpenClaw?
Great use-case!
sgallant··on Launch HN: Spine Swarm (YC S23) – AI agents that collaborate on a visual canvas
This is awesome. Good job.
sgallant··on Engineers who dismiss AI
Well said!
sgallant··on Show HN: I built a synth for my daughter
My kids would love this.
sgallant··on Show HN: I built an AI Secretary that schedules meetings for me
On a personal note, I wanted to thank the HN community. I’ve been hanging out here for over 15 years. I remember the day I stumbled on HN: I immediately felt at home here. I’ve learned so much from reading HN over the years. I think it’s fair to say that without this community, Brice wouldn’t be what it is today.
sgallant··on All managers make mistakes; good managers acknowledge and repair
> I recently read “Good Inside” by Dr. Becky Kennedy, a parenting book that completely changed how I think about this. She talks about how the most important parenting skill isn’t being perfect — it’s repair.

Love this book! Just read it. Must read for parents, IMO.

sgallant··on Bootstrapping a side project into a profitable seven-figure business
I've been following their journey for a while and love hearing about their success

sgallant··on AI Scheduling for Teams [video]
Hi HN! We're Scott and Logan. We're building an AI Agent that schedules meetings for teams from within Slack. Finding a meeting time that works for everyone can be a big pain but Brice has access to everyone's calendar and can book the meeting on your behalf (using context from the Slack conversation).

I'm looking for some feedback on this demo.

Would you use this? Would you actually pay for it? Do you prefer Doodle Polls ;)

Feel free to sign up for early access here at https://brice.ai

Thanks!

sgallant··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney, who does work for YC and startups. AMA
What if you're going to the US to participate in YC? Would a B-1 visa be valid?
sgallant··on Show HN: I made a web-based, free alternative to Screen Studio
Well done! Just tested this out and it's great but some feedback:

I couldn't successfully trim my recording. I could get into "trim mode" but couldn't figure out how to do it. That's a really important feature to me and the UX needs a lot of work there.

A feature that I always use with Screen Studio is changing the speed of clips. For example, if I'm typing in the recording, I like to speed it up super fast.

Also, I like the Cursor size/preferences (size, hide when mouse isn't moving, etc)

A feature that is missing from SS is: I can't insert title cards or my own clips. I kinda wish it took video editing to the next level and allowed me to insert other clips or title cards.

I'm still not happy with Screen Studio's pricing change.

Good luck!

sgallant··on Show HN: I convert videos to printed flipbooks for living
I saw this on X yesterday and LOVE the idea. I'll be ordering a flip book for sure. The perfect gift for my wife!
sgallant··on Show HN: I completed shipping my desktop app
Very well done!
sgallant··on Show HN: I made a tiny camera with super long battery life
Yes, the site is very authentic but at first glance I was pretty confused. The animated cartoony camera followed by "only for mac" and "download" made me think this was an app, not a hardware camera.

I'd put a real photo of the camera in the hero section so people instantly grok that it's a real device.

sgallant··on I sold TinyPilot, my first successful business
Congratulations on the sale and the upcoming baby!

There are a lot of comments here comparing the financial outcome of your TinyPilot journey Vs what could have been had you remained at Google. Can you share your perspective on that? Are you happy you chose the path you did? If so, why?

Thank you

sgallant··on [dead]
I watched the demo video and at first I was confused why they were showing Linear instead of their own product. They just completely ripped off Linear. Gross.
sgallant··on Show HN: Simple tool to generate Open Graph meta tags
Love this and love the image generator.
