sfe22··on Tricon CEO hoards 30000+ single family homes in US/Canada
This company is also beholden to its customers, they have to compete with other companies and individuals and can only profit if they are really good at what they do. If it is extremely profitable many others will jump on the opportunity, thus lowering prices. What incentive would a government granted monopoly have to improve?

And no, a government is almost never beholden to it’s people. It automatically has power, especially communist ones. The “democratic” one also only have to convince a few groups to agree on a few topics to get full controll.

sfe22··on Tricon CEO hoards 30000+ single family homes in US/Canada
Yeah, and the irony of supporting a monopoly (government) owning all the homes without incentive to improve, compared to this company that is taking a lot of risk and offering a service in the freeish market.
sfe22··on Tricon CEO hoards 30000+ single family homes in US/Canada
They are a communist subreddit so I’d probably get banned from saying this there: In communism the one organization will own all homes, not just 30k of them. So if 30k is bad, how is owning everything better? This post is actually contradicting all they believe in.
sfe22··on China forces Mozilla to remove adblockers from its store
Agreed, they probably laugh at us from time to time and rightfully so.
sfe22··on The Anonymous collective has leaked the database of Nestlé. Leaked 10GB data
I am not fine with it, don’t twist my words. I would say authoritarians are actually fine with it occasionally, as they support a system where that is easier to be done, and then get to hide behind their authoritarian when shit hits the fan.
sfe22··on The Anonymous collective has leaked the database of Nestlé. Leaked 10GB data
For all I know Bin Laden was also elected “fair and free”. The problem is the power is not in the people but a select few, even in “democratic” America.

The toddler comparison does not make a lot of sense. Most Russians and Americans are just as able bodied as Putin or Biden, they ain't tiny powerless humans. They are choosing and supporting authoritarianism.

sfe22··on The Anonymous collective has leaked the database of Nestlé. Leaked 10GB data
Putin represents the Russian people just like Biden the Americans. How he got there is irrelevant, he represents and owns Russia/Russians, and they are fine with it. They chose authoritarianism and got a questionable tyrant. Now they gotta deal with it.
sfe22··on Hackers claim to have breached Okta systems
This assumes money is the only factor and motivation.
sfe22··on Inflation is a disease (1978) [video]
And the hurdles it creates. The government may spend $100k on a bureaucrat that causes individuals and companies to spend millions to overcome.
sfe22··on Bicycling Street Smarts, Chapter 6: Using Your Brakes (2001)
Just twice as likely? I would have guessed much worse.
sfe22··on If Google sucks then why is everyone still using it?
You can still block googles ip’s manually
sfe22··on In-flight surgery with a coat-hanger and silverware
How did you get it. Was it a major accident?
sfe22··on VPN provider bans BitTorrent after getting sued by film studios
It says they will use firewall, so i would assume blocking the default port and maybe known trackers.
sfe22··on Red Dwarfs Will Be Humanity’s Last Home Before the Universe Dies
It would take a lot of mass taking for most stars i would think.
sfe22··on Antarctic sea ice hits lowest minimum on record
Do we even have an efficient way to extract carbon using electricity?
sfe22··on Red Dwarfs Will Be Humanity’s Last Home Before the Universe Dies
How can you turn off a star? Or just throw in in a black hole?
sfe22··on Inflation propagates unevenly
Correct. And there is a reason, at 10% interest rate, the federal government is bankrupt.
sfe22··on Android: Freeing up 60% of storage for apps by removing parts of the app
Will try this for sure
sfe22··on Android: Freeing up 60% of storage for apps by removing parts of the app
How do you get these tiny android app sizes. Even the most basic android app from Android studio is like 500kB
sfe22··on America produces enough oil to meet its needs, so why do we import crude?
Not for long though
sfe22··on Supreme Court Supports Government in Blocking Torture Evidence
Switzerland for example is hybrid regime, since people there have ways to veto actions and laws by tyrants. Still not a democracy but a step in the right direction. I am sure no country has democracy where everyone has a say in actions and laws, rather than a tiny tiny minority (no matter if they were born into it, appointed or “elected”)
sfe22··on Supreme Court Supports Government in Blocking Torture Evidence
America is not a democracy in the sense of the word (people rule). Unless you only count the about a thousand of actual Americas rulers as people (some judges, some senators, president and a few others). Thats about 0.0003% of the people, far from democracy I would say.
sfe22··on Bypass Paywalls: a browser extension to help bypass paywalls for selected sites
Internal matters are just that, internal matters. You cannot enforce information transfer controls (without prior agreement with that person) because you allegedly paid someone to produce data, and want to make money off of it.
sfe22··on Bypass Paywalls: a browser extension to help bypass paywalls for selected sites
They never had it, thus does not meet the definition of theft.
sfe22··on Bypass Paywalls: a browser extension to help bypass paywalls for selected sites
I don’t think this extension receives additional data that the publisher did not willingly provide. Besides I am pretty sure many others would be willing to offer said resources for free (if it wasn't for “good” guys with assault rifles showing up to enforce information and knowledge transfer controlls)
sfe22··on Bypass Paywalls: a browser extension to help bypass paywalls for selected sites
What did the publisher lose that he had before?
sfe22··on Russia's top bank quits Europe due to sanctions
Wrong.
sfe22··on Russia's top bank quits Europe due to sanctions
You found something that did not go up?
sfe22··on Russia's top bank quits Europe due to sanctions
1. Print money 2. Use said money to bid oil prices up
sfe22··on Russia's top bank quits Europe due to sanctions
Lets not forget about the fed that is printing trillions that are being used to bid up oil prices. It is easy to blame saudis here but in this case the fed is doing more damage.
