Learnt from experience that when you can foresee a project failure and you don't have any power, stay quiet and start applying for new role before the blame game, retros and political chaos. It's not worth it, you're just an employee and it's not your company.
Feel free to live in your cocoon, I have owned several euro cars, including e36 m3. Now own BYD Dolphin and Shark, the European car industry is history mate.
Chinese cars have come a long way, most of them have better quality than any European maker. And almost of them come with very long warranty periods as well. Go take a test drive in one to find out what you been missing out on.
I had family friends visiting Australia from USA and they were surprised by the sheer number and varieties of Chinese cars on our roads. I too have a BYD Dolphin and Shark, they loved them and felt they’re missing out big time on this. Mind you we have lots of Teslas on the roads as well, but they are bleeding their lead.
Why not? And cheap is a relative term, from American point of view these sensors may be expensive because they have to buy it from suppliers, from BYD’s perspective it could be home grown given they are by far the most vertically integrated vehicle manufacturer.
I run nextjs using dokploy on a vps but am sure this might be the final push for us to break free from Vercel. Shame because I was such an early believer and adopter.
The older I get, the more I find myself gravitating toward building with Express.js, using front-end HTML with a touch of Alpine.js—and that covers 99% of my use cases. React is mostly an overkill.
Nothing fancy, just an express.js app with some sprinkle of alpine.js built on top of perplexity. Just something I have been tinkering with on the weekends, not meant to conquer the world :)
I’ve made the repo open source, feel free to look around,
BYD is not behind Tesla in safety with full score in ANCAP and software refinements dropping every now and then OTA. The UX of the BYD is far better as well with no forced minimalism.
Not to mention that it doesn’t have the battery degradation that my leaf suffered from. Nissan engineers messed up big time by leaving proper battery thermal management, giving edge to newcomers like BYD.
Price to build quality/package ratio. For AUD 36ks you can get a BYD Dolphin Premium with blade LFP battery, which will give you around 450 to 500ks of range. Why would you buy a Tesla?
