seemaze··on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27
Everything in 26 takes longer with all the bs easing that got drizzled over the interface.
seemaze··on Ex-FTC boss Khan: break out the handcuffs for AI CEOs, citing 1934 precedent
Depends on if you're referring to experience defrauding the American public, or protecting the American public. That can have different answers depending on what which side of the transaction you sit.
seemaze··on Ex-FTC boss Khan: break out the handcuffs for AI CEOs, citing 1934 precedent
we could do all of them, but they all seem to be up to date on their tithe. AI has a somewhat mixed record of tribute.
seemaze··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'
Are there any useful resources for finding devices that don't have surveillance apparatus built in?

I'm still not purchasing a television. The last thing I need is more screen time in my life.

seemaze··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'
As someone who hasn’t owned a television in decades, why would a TV even need a microphone in the first place?

How many other household devices have a microphone whose primary function is orthogonal to recording audio?

seemaze··on The Last 24 Hours Are the Opening Scene in a Horror Movie
This appears to be a copy-paste wall of other persons social media posts assembled by a jazz historian with an alarmingly high frequency of the term 'honest' in their blog titles..

forgot about this verse:

I'm a peeping tom techie with X-ray eyes

Things are going great, and they're only getting better

seemaze··on Show HN: Open-Source eInk Bike Computer
Would love to see video of the application in action. Was recently researching eink displays for motorcycle navigation, but the refresh rates were not up to par for realtime automotive navigation..

>driver's licenses expire in the US, usually on a 5-10 year cadence

Standard Arizona drivers licenses only expire when the licensee turns 65 years of age, and must be renewed every 5 years thereafter.

seemaze··on Qantas Airbus A380 engine failure in 2010 (2023)
This remarkable event, along with the an accessible history of the evolution of precision manufacturing is covered in Simon Winchester's excellent book The Perfectionists[0]. The audiobook is narrated by the author, which is quite enjoyable as well.

seemaze··on Show HN: Linux server management over SSH – written in Rust and Tauri
Thanks for the reply, did not expect a response.

The initial inquiry was not in good faith, but a satirical critique of the project domain.

seemaze··on "Code was never the hard part" is an insult to all programmers
Not in tech, so does the authority granting license to proceed do code reviews?

Because when I submit building plans, they are manually reviewed and approved (or denied) by registered architects, engineers, and planners employed by the authority for just this purpose.

seemaze··on BMW Is Showing Commercials on Their Car's Dash Screens as a Treat
It doesn't have that physical connection to the road the prior models had. I know a lot of this is the move to drive-by-wire with electric power steering and selectable modes. It drives like a nice car, but just feels a bit removed in comparison to the earlier cars.

Also, many other automotive manufacturers have caught up and provide very nice driving experiences as well. There seems to be less differentiate BMW from any other 'nice' car these days. Well, except ads.

seemaze··on Franken.domains: Stitched-Together Domains, Because Every .com Is Taken
Tried until I ran out of 'dissections' with zero results on known good domains..

It seems like it just matches a list of precomputed entries, but does no actual operation of the user input.

seemaze··on BMW Is Showing Commercials on Their Car's Dash Screens as a Treat
I've driven several BMW's starting in the mid 90's. I recently picked up a used 2017 sight unseen from a dealer pretty far away. It was the only one available I could find that met my criteria.

The car was in superb shape and I'm happy with it, but I knew immediately after driving it that it would be the last BMW I ever purchased. This just seals the deal.

seemaze··on Google fixed more Chrome bugs in June than over the past two years, thanks to AI
My fear is that on average all software will get worse and be less optimized. There will still be high quality products at a high cost with high touch humans shepherding development, but I think there will also be a bunch of 'good enough' slop for everyday functional tasks where there exists neither the talent nor the budget to create truly wonderful solution.

Fast foot didn't kill fine dining, but it is killing us..
