really cool. A while back I've build this database of 1000+ hand-selected educational YouTube videos, so I'm going to try out a few of them to put in this tool :) https://www.edutube.app/

sebastianvoelkl··on Making my side-project for free after it failed
Hey HN, A few months ago I finished a side-project called edutube.app A platform to discover 1000+ educational YouTube videos. I put a lot of work into the project, but it failed (Didn't have a lot of paying customers), so from today on, EduTube is free to use for everyone. I hope you like it
sebastianvoelkl··on Show HN: Self-host Whisper As a Service with GUI and queueing
My goal for my project is to build a tool that transcribes Interviews (e.g, in Sales or Recruiting) and puts the Transcription through ChatGPT (Waiting for the API atm) to make a summary that looks like the notes of the call. Speaker diarization is important, so I don't have more than 4000 tokens input in ChatGPT. I will see how it goes, but if it's reliable enough (looks like it so far), it will save the time it takes to write meeting notes and rewrite them to send them to someone after the call (Hiring Managers etc.) Imagine a 10x Otter.ai or something like that.

I can share my repo when it's finished. In the meantime, you can take a look at this: https://huggingface.co/spaces/vumichien/whisper-speaker-diar...
sebastianvoelkl··on Show HN: Self-host Whisper As a Service with GUI and queueing
The only thing Whisper misses is speaker diarization. I'm currently working on a model that uses Whisper + pyannote to transcribe Interviews and also detects who is speaking. It's working but damn it takes so long
sebastianvoelkl··on Ask HN: Share your favorite YouTube channels focused on mastering a skill/craft
There is a own section of this on https://www.edutube.app
sebastianvoelkl··on YouTube Addiction

sebastianvoelkl··on YouTube Addiction
I think the YouTube suggestions got worse over time. In 1-2 weeks I will launch www.EduTube.app a platform to discover hand picked educational YouTube videos for those who are interested in it

sebastianvoelkl··on Ask HN: How are you onboarding new team members?
Besides all the stuff that's already given here:

1. We created a onboarding page via Google Sites where new employees get all the information in their onboarding process: Like all the details about their first onboarding week, informations about their future co-workers, tutorials about tools that person will use daily in our company and informations about the tech of our product

2. We have a Buddy program where our existing employees (department doesn't matter) will be always available for questions and go fur lunch/drink coffee in the first week

3. I also can't imagine a great onboarding experience without HR software support. We are based in Germany and use Personio as our all in one HR-tool

4. Perhaps it goes without saying, but the employee should get used to the team as quickly as possible in the first week

sebastianvoelkl··on “AI promised to revolutionize radiology but so far its failing”
I work in a startup that is building a software for radiologists that uses AI. From what I experienced so far is that the software is definitely not the problem. Our software already is better at detecting lesions, aneurisms and we are close to tumors too. Our goal is not to replace the radiologist but rather to decrease the error rate. But there is definitely a difference between training a model at home with perfectly preprocessed data and working with the raw 'real-life' data + monetizing it + making the UX/Ui for it etc.
