seano··on Anybody here regularly lift weights?
"Real speed and strength comes from complete relaxation and not tension, which weight lifting only promotes."

The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, uses weight lifting as part of his training routine - as do elite athletes in almost all sports (with a particularly important role in those requiring high levels of strength and speed).

You start by saying people using log books over-train and go on to say that they should put away the log book and pick up the pace. That makes no sense.

Your other points are equally useless personal opinion.

seano··on Be a JavaScript Rockstar (jQuery site redesign)
It's not hard to find out, go to the app, click view source and search for a jquery import. I just checked dell.com and they are using it on the front page.

He turned down the offer of a US scholarship to train in Jamaica.
seano··on Why English speakers dominate sprinting events
I think the answer is somewhat more obvious. Look at the facilities, coaches and funding available for athletes in the USA, Jamaica, and Britain compared to West Africa.

seano··on See How Much Time You Are Wasting With RescueTime
The problem is that productivity is a function of both time and what useful product was derived. RescueTime is using time to measure both. It has no effective way to tell if anything worthwhile was produced. For example, the statistic about users achieving an average 9% increase in productivity in 3 months actually means that they increased the proportion of time spent in applications labeled productive by 9%, the assumption being that the two are absolutely correlated.

Much of South America looks promising. I'd probably avoid Brazil and head to Argentina though, the world's spanish speaking market is huge.

seano··on Why I Still Like C
Sure, but first write the application in a higher level language and then, if required, you can re-write the bottleneck in C. Otherwise what you are doing amounts to premature optimisation.
seano··on Experts find key to saving fuel: say gallons per mile
It can be confusing in the UK where economy is usually quoted in mpg whilst petrol is sold in litres.
seano··on Experts find key to saving fuel: say gallons per mile
If they did that then the figures would change daily and be different for each market in which the car were sold.
seano··on Trading Places with Indian Outsourcers
If it's a commodity, and it's apparent his skills are, it makes sense to hire the cheapest.

Yeah, you can see it has a small period from the presence of a repeated pattern. I think if he had used the Mersenne twister algorithm the output would be indistinguishable.
seano··on Why Zappos Pays New Employees to Quit—And You Should Too
In addition to the filtering element, this strategy probably has a long term benefit. Those who reject the offer and join are likely to stay committed and enthusiastic in order to be consistent with their original decision. The desire to be consistent is a hugely powerful force - read Influence by Robert Cialdini if you're interested.
seano··on Inside Dot Com: Student Lifestyle
This is very old - firebox.com started in 1998 and went on to become the 13th fastest growing privately owned UK company in 2004 when they achieved annual sales of £4.4 million and 150% pa growth (www.fasttrack.co.uk).
