Cropping whitespace between panels (not just margins on the edge) is also cool. And page number cropping.
edit: added remarkable 1/2 sample file to link in other comment.
For now, here's some kindle scribe samples. The mobi can be usb transferred, the epub can be sent via Send to Kindle. They might look fine on other Kindles, let me know! Otherwise I can put up more samples.

Edit: added more kindles/kobos/remarkable, lmk if I made any errors! only difference is resolution
If you are on macOS, you need the Amazon USB File Manager app to do that on newer MTP based Kindles. Older kindles just used ordinary USB mass storage protocol. Link in readme.
I only use Calibre for normal ebooks.
Maybe in the future, KCC has command line versions as well. It's all Python.
You can enable it in the Kindle Aa menu.
You can double tap a corner to zoom into the corner in portrait mode 150% zoom.
Or you can turn the Kindle sideways to read half a page at a time.
and KCC scaling using the LANCOZ algorithm, which looks great.
I recorded a video of me reading Hacker News on my eink android phone and Kindle here. It actually works great.
Apps used are EinkBro browser and Ktool. The browser is an android apk and lets you “page turn” websites with volume buttons. Ktool converts hacker news discussions to well formatted epubs for kindle.
1) Rapidly changing between apps without pressing the manual refresh button is a little unrealistic usage. Also, the ghosting is way less noticeable in person vs the camera recording here. The contrast looks great in person, similar to the contrast of ink of paper.
2) eInk screen technology is way easier on the eyes for me. I can read on it basically continuously. There's no backlight, it's entirely ambiently lit so usage in direct sunlight is easy. The technology works by physically moving ink particles around and looks like ink on paper. there's also optional front lights for use in darker environments but it's usually off.
The top bar is a CSS issue. I forgot to enable the black and white only mode in the einkbro browser. Since I rarely look at top bar it slipped my mind.
Here's what it looks like with black/white mode:

------ Hey everyone! I'm the current maintainer of KCC since 2023, thanks for using it! I’ve been reading manga on Kindle ever since I got the big 9.7” Kindle DX from 2010 using mangle, and upgraded to the even bigger 10.2” Kindle Scribe 2022 using KCC.
The biggest contributions I've made to KCC are:
added modern macOS support and removed homebrew requirement
ported code to run on native Apple silicon M1 chip and later for a 2x speed boost (qt5->qt6)
free open source windows codesign with SignPath
fixed Kindle Scribe support
and tons of other various features and bug fixes and developer friendly changes
created a legacy Windows 7 build with 300+ downloads…
The biggest community PRs were:
huge 2x speed boosts due to various CPU/IO optimizations
Kobo/Remarkable support.
Enjoy using KCC and let me know if you have any questions!
