Built in GPS for run tracking is awesome, and with wireless airpods, I'll be able to run and listen to music/podcast with minimal extra weight.
A few other minor things I've liked about the Apple Watch 2:
- Setting a timer with Siri (use multiple times a day now) - Weather on the watchface - Check banking balances from watch - PagerDuty notifications on watch vs. phone (my wife very much appreciates this!) - phone now stays out of the bedroom
I'm sad there isn't a good open source watch OS out there (with any decent looking hardware) - but until then, the Apple Watch 2 has been a pleasant surprise. I did have pretty low expectations going in, so that could be part of it.
Curious if they are returning money to VC's or just really burned through that much in 7 months...
If anyone in Seattle wants to play some basketball near greenwood / phinney ridge area, I'm hosting at 7pm tonite at the Greenwood Elementary outdoor courts! Event is public on this app.
In talking with them about the childcare side of things, they ran into a lot of regulation that just proved too much at the time.
Childcare is highly regulated and childcare and workplaces even more so apparently. They said that many of the laws they were running into were meant to keep larger industrial organizations in check back in the day. Companies used to offer very sub-par "childcare" for line-workers and if a child was having a problem (sick, injury, etc) it wasn't in the best interest of the company to inform the parent (who would have to leave the production line).
I didn't think those laws would apply to a co-op type office where everyone is working for themselves.
When I left in December, there was no childcare running, just the co-op workspace (which I would highly recommend).
Loved the layout of the competition slide.
I love your posts John, but "Hacker" implies a level of coding in my opinion, and I think most here on HN would agree.
As someone who talks to a few dozen SEOs a week, 99% of them cannot code in a fashion needed to be a "Growth Hacker". It's not that they can't contribute to growth, it's just that the traditional methods SEOs use (content, technical fixes, social) would not be considered hacks, but just solid online marketing.
The queries you can download from webmaster tools are just 1 column of data....nothing to tie queries to conversions or any meaningful metric.
If it was everyone who was losing this data...I could understand the change but if you buy adwords ads, you still get the referral data even in https Google.
BTW - I run notprovided.com and have had 100% days of (not provided) keywords referrals....at least I have a good idea of what they were searching for : )
I really liked this product and had enjoyed the free beta...it was great for sending out updates to advisors/potential investors. I would have paid to keep it going.
Congrats to the team, but bummed the service is going away.
I would think Google penalizes the sellers, and only if they can nearly 100% confirm that the site linked to initiated the link, then the link buyer.
In the past Google would just take away PR from link sellers, but not de-index them.
