schrodingersCat··on Evidence that Apple is making a TV, and the remote will likely be your hand
It will be interesting to see how apple manages to do this without violating one or more of microsoft's kinect patent(s)
schrodingersCat··on PyPdf: How to Write a PDF to Memory
Do you also get a performance bump by writing to memory? This post was quite helpful. Thanks

schrodingersCat··on Don’t Blame Big Cable. It’s Local Governments That Choke Broadband Competition
This article is partially correct. The mayor of my town was censured in an ethics committee hearing in part due to his shady dealings with a broadband provider. As a result, Comcast is STILL the only game in town. Did lobbyist have something to do with this? Undoubtedly. But clearly "big cable" is not the only part of the problem.
schrodingersCat··on JavaScript Powered Arduino with Johnny-Five
Thanks for sharing a new way to programs an arduino. This should allow more web-devs to explore hardware hacking
schrodingersCat··on NSA code in Android
Okay, there's NSA code in android. Is it defacto a backdoor? my understanding was that SE-Linux was simply a configuration, not a special program. Could someone explain?
schrodingersCat··on Encrypted Bookmarks in Chrome with Hush
This is a clever solution for chrome, but does anyone know of a similar add-on for Firefox?
schrodingersCat··on Email rejected on sending due to content?
This is really a question for stack-exchange. Try sending from webmail client perhaps?
schrodingersCat··on Confidential Microsoft brief: 'We're toast if we fight Google on price'
There's something to be said about simplifying your product line. I guess msft's approach is: if we can't beat them on price, confuse the hell out of them?
schrodingersCat··on Your Computer May Already be Hacked – NSA Inside?
Is there a (proof of concept) way to examine the processor microcode?
schrodingersCat··on $99 ARM-based PC runs either Ubuntu or Android
The $99 model will be bare-bones for sure.

schrodingersCat··on $99 ARM-based PC runs either Ubuntu or Android
This runs ubuntu AND android. I have a netflix app on my android tablet and phone. This should hypothetically support all streaming video services.
schrodingersCat··on Set up an email server in two hours
Yep, you are absolutely correct. This approach is only for the truly paranoid. But if you host accounts for your friends, family, and s/o, then your messages / metadata will never go out onto the web in any readable form. Yes, emails from businesses and other people will be visible but it is certainly a better setup if you care about your privacy.
schrodingersCat··on Set up an email server in two hours
Yes, the NSA could still get your metadata, content from your ISP with an NSL, but this would eliminate the possibility of getting your email directly from the g00g
schrodingersCat··on Set up an email server in two hours
Thanks!
schrodingersCat··on Patriot Supersonic Magnum 64 GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Speeds Review
Thanks for this review. I glad to know that there are other brands that are just as fast as the sandisk extreme. I'm probably still going to wait until post-Christmas sales start
schrodingersCat··on Set up an email server in two hours
Have recommendations?
schrodingersCat··on Set up an email server in two hours
The was a great tutorial! Would a raspberry pi have enough power to tackle this setup? I only ask because I have seen similar self-hosting projects on a pi, but nothing quite this complex.
schrodingersCat··on The paranoid #! Security Guide
Anyone had luck compiling this on OSX?
schrodingersCat··on Fish Oil and the Prostate - what the latest study actually showed
It was interesting to read that omega-3s were elevated in these individuals. These lipids are typically involved in shutting down inflammatory induced immune responses (i.e. when you get an infection, local inflammation recruits your immune system to fight off the pathogen). The author hypothesizes that these lipids may be recruited as a result of the tumor, seemingly going against the current notion that you need dietary supplementation to offset inflammation. The study did not appear to control for dietary intake of omega-3s, or look at signs of systemic inflammation like c-reactive protein levels. This study was quite small and should probably be ignored for now until the details are fleshed out in follow up studies.
schrodingersCat··on Unexpected DuckDuckGo search for "ruby gsub!"
I put the query in quotes and got it to work. Ddg reserves the "!" syntax for bang and ddhack searches. This is probably what you were looking for: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1234741/ruby-gsub-regex-m...
schrodingersCat··on Ask HN: Notifying users about hellbanning
You're not hellbanned. Can someone do the same for me? I cannot seem to up-vote anymore
schrodingersCat··on The lost art of sticking to it
There's a difference between cutting your losses because an idea just isn't worth your time, and putting in the work to get a bring a good idea into fruition. Sometimes its hard to do this, especially when you have proven to yourself that the idea work. The hard (tedious and mind numbing) part becomes scaling up your idea and convincing other people that its worth something. It takes a lot of tenacity to see even a good idea to the end. Great post!

schrodingersCat··on Why Spotify is Doomed
Nice article, though I'm not sure charging more will solve their problems. As long as the RIAA keep bellyaching that they aren't getting their fair share, almost all streaming music services will have the same challenges. FYI, this site has an "untrustworthy" WOT rating for some reason.
schrodingersCat··on Plug: the brain of your devices
Congratulations on your success! I'm rooting for you
schrodingersCat··on Mypy - A New Python Variant with Dynamic and Static Typing
This looks interesting but I'd like to know more about the actual performance gains. If I'm not going to use the python standard library (and therefore lose access to all the 3rd party libraries that go with it), there has to be some serious payoffs for the tradeoff. Otherwise I might as well go with C or GoLang where a performance bump is guaranteed.
schrodingersCat··on Kremlin's response to Snowden's revelations: switch to typewriters
Thumb drives.
schrodingersCat··on PA Report: We're not citizens anymore just criminals who have yet to be jailed
Combine unpopular expression with overzealous DAs wanting to get ahead in their careers, and you get this situation. I'm convinced that the entire culture and method of promotion in all departments of justice need to change if we want to see real reform. More convictions does not equal a better DA
schrodingersCat··on City scanning all traffic for stolen cars
Its all good as long as no one gets a ticket. Is it possible to travel without being monitored anymore? I'm sure there was some sort of anti-terrorism argument for the original grant. I guess TIA never died, it was just napping for a bit
