sbt567··on Egui 0.27 – easy-to-use immediate mode GUI for Rust
Thanks for creating AccessKit! It is awesome seeing an initiative to create a common library for such a fundamental building block for GUI
sbt567··on Who killed the network switch? A Hubris Bug Story
I adore whatever folks at Oxide does. And this is one of it
sbt567··on Rebuilding Netflix's video processing pipeline with microservices
IIRC, the rebuild to monolith doesn't tell the whole story. They aren't ditching all of their microservices in favor of monolith. There is a person responsible from Prime giving a clear picture of this in twitter (sadly I'm not saving the tweet source)
sbt567··on RustPython
I've been using RustPython for my side project (scripting purpose) and its been amazing ride so far! (albeit with minimal docs which is understandable at this stage). AFAIK, the parser also been used in the awesome ruff project
sbt567··on Autorize – Authorization enforcement detection extension for Burp Suite
I'm using httptoolkit and very happy with it. It's not as featureful as burp but the out of the box experience is very nice for average Joe like me that just occasionally need to leverage a tool like this.
sbt567··on Welcome to Apache OpenDAL
Very interesting. Is this a kind of "programmable rclone"?
sbt567··on Semantic fuzzing of the Rust compiler and interpreter [pdf]
nikic is demigod!
sbt567··on Rocket v0.5: Stable, Async
That is definitely the problem foundation want to solve. Hope then it could reasonably speed up the development
sbt567··on Lapce Editor 0.3
I've tried it on Linux, load it with a Rust project, and it only consumes around 100MB. Dunno what happens on Windows though
sbt567··on Ask HN: Most beautiful open source projects in Rust
In my case, I greatly admire what folks at Huggingface have built in the candle[0] project. The project itself is amazing. I haven't yet delved deeper into the source code, but the code in their examples is clear and easy to understand

There is also czkawka
sbt567··on Show HN: Shuttle – Build and ship backends without writing infrastructure files
It would be great if there are some kind of code snippet on the README that really demonstrate the "ship backends without writing infra" feature that I think is one of the unique feature of shuttle. I remember seeing one on the official website (https://shuttle.rs) that left me impressed.
sbt567··on Google assigns a CVE for libwebp and gives it a 10.0 score
There is https://github.com/containers/youki
sbt567··on LaTeX for tabletop
Maybe it is the offline support for the web app
sbt567··on Removing garbage collection from the Rust language (2013)
Is there any other languages that let you use async on embedded/bare metal? I think Rust could learn from them. Especially on the ergonomics side. Otherwise, what Rust might currently do is blazing a trail through a forest.
sbt567··on Animated Knots
Uh wow. That video is awesome. Thanks for sharing

sbt567··on Kanata: Improve keyboard usability with advanced customization
One particular approach that one might find it interesting is how the configuration is laid out (using S-expression from Lisps).

sbt567··on Learn AutoHotKey by stealing my scripts
Kanata[0] is amazing. It support both Linux and Windows. But I'm yet to try it on windows because my majority work is on linux.

sbt567··on VidCutter: A program for lossless video cutting
Is there any equivalent of losslesscut or vidcutter for images (jpeg, png)? The one I'm aware of is cropgui. Wondering if there is another alternative
sbt567··on I have written a JVM in Rust
Uh, first time hearing mmtk. Thanks for the link!
sbt567··on macOS Apps in Rust
There is a recent article about this on r/rust https://blog.logrocket.com/build-desktop-app-qt-rust/
sbt567··on Emerging Rust GUI libraries in a WASM world
The author of egui created https://www.rerun.io/ using... egui but the commercial version is still WIP.
sbt567··on 20 years of Nix
This. I've been actively trying nix-based tooling on and off for my projects because it is legitimately solve the problem around sandboxing, versioning, reproducibility, consistency, etc. Recently, I'm trying to use asdf (and its faster alternative, rtx) and I keep telling myself "huh, nix could solve this problem better". But, damn it is infuriating to learn. Like other commenter said, it is the escape hatch that I'm missing so much. I really really want to convince myself to learn nix The Right Way. But, it feels like you will have another learning curve when using a nix-wrapper tooling.

I still have a high hope for the future of nix. And I believe the time nix will rise in popularity is when they have sorted the UX-related issues.

sbt567··on Show HN: Zed – A high-performance, multiplayer code editor. Now in public beta
