sbinthree··on Twitter CMO: Elon Musk has “questionable ethics”, expects mass exodus
As if Musk would keep the marketing team anyways lol.
sbinthree··on Twitter’s Board Is Said to Seriously Consider Elon Musk’s Bid
Legally they have to seriously consider any serious offer to buy the company. All the better that they are doing so :)
sbinthree··on As Americans Shed Their Masks, Asia Largely Stays Covered Up
I suspect if masking continues for long enough, societies will lose herd immunity to essentially all viruses. In most cases that would take 5-10 years, though.
sbinthree··on Jeff Bezos is worth $160bn – yet Congress might bail out his space company
As a hardcore capitalist, I do not understand why the government gives companies money under any circumstances. The government should provide fast business courts (like Delaware), decharter any company that abuses their market power, price in externalities like pollution and otherwise never give money to companies.
sbinthree··on Boosters customised for Omicron seem to offer little advantage
This was the most likely outcome. Original antigenic sin is fundamental.
sbinthree··on Gravity CEO Dan Price accused of sexual assault
His first wife gave a TED talk where she didn’t name him but described her first husband (Dan Price) dragging her around their family home by her hair and beating her to near death. No surprise here.
sbinthree··on Marc Benioff: Force for Good
Have a few friends at Salesforce. Few companies are more ruthless about firing people for missing a single quarter of quota. Guess sales reps don't fall under the category of stakeholders with the desired political capital.
sbinthree··on The tech bubble that never burst
The heterodox truth is that startups are undervalued for their value potential. When single (venture backed) companies all have more cash than the entire ecosystem on their balance sheet, it becomes clear that the market is undervalued.
sbinthree··on A ‘Zero Tolerance’ Covid-19 Policy in China Leads to a Dystopian Nightmare
Are you saying covid will just go away once the lockdown is over?
sbinthree··on Twitter staff ‘super stressed’ over EMusk chaos
Let's be real, if Elon buying 9% of your company makes you 'super stressed' you are probably in out to lunch peacetime mode anyways and need to be shaken up. Imagine working for Twitter but 'needing support to get through the week' because of board room drama... And Elon deciding not to join the board interrupted their 'monthly day of rest'. Wow.
sbinthree··on Amazon worker chat app to ban words such as “union”, “pay raise”, “slave labor”
Whatever the corporate equivalent is of a late stage authoritarian dictatorship.
sbinthree··on Biden to Propose 20% Tax Aimed at Billionaires, Unrealized Gains
Unrealized gains tax is a good watch to destroy startups.
sbinthree··on Why Colossal Biosciences CEO Ben Lamm wants to de-glorify startups
We use status to pay people where we lack sufficient resources to do so. See also: soldiers, doctors. We lack innovation and technology progress, so paying founders in status where we are unable to pay to address the market failure makes sense.
sbinthree··on Venture capitalists pass on board seats to secure deals in hot crypto start ups
Board seats come with a duty of loyalty meaning you can only back one competitor. In a world with unlimited investment capital, it might be more rational to back all the best companies in a particular space rather than just a single one. The lack of board seat reduces the investor's obligation to the company and frees up the constrained resource which is partner capacity. Rational.
sbinthree··on NYC Uber users will be able to choose a yellow taxi under a new partnership
Ah yes, the 'and then you win' stage of disruption in action.
sbinthree··on What doctors wish patients knew about long Covid
It is likely going to be found that long covid can be reversed with acute doses of Vitamin B3. Here's a few links, including a Nature article about it:

sbinthree··on George Hotz against the institutions
Great article.
sbinthree··on Yale Law School Students Interrupt Event, Demand Right to Talk over Speakers
The church of liberalism has entered the eleventh hour.
sbinthree··on Stripe will review your YC application before you submit
I think this is phishing, the URL is 'stripe.global'
sbinthree··on Putin: “A Natural and Necessary Self-Purification of Society”
Cannot see current children viewing the current leadership class as worthy...
sbinthree··on Ukraine asks ICANN to revoke Russian domains and shut down DNS root servers
"Why should we let Russia have air? I request that the United Nations of Air cancel Russia's air immediately. 30 million neutral to allied people deserve to suffocate rapidly for the decisions of a few powerful people."
sbinthree··on Ukrainian Government Confirms Destruction of An-225 the World’s Largest Aircraft
First they came for the Crimean region, and I did not speak out.

Then they came for the bordering countries, and I did not speak out.

Then they came for the military installations, and I did not speak out.

And then they came for the An-225...

sbinthree··on Greenwald: War Propaganda About Ukraine Becoming Militaristic Reckless
First useful and balanced thing I've read about this whole process.
sbinthree··on Coinbase CEO gets called out over Super Bowl ad
All tweets, sooner or later, come to be regrettable.
sbinthree··on Why do I feel like you need to be a sociopath to succeed?
Hot take but sociopathy is technically the compulsively violent one. People think it’s “social psychopath” but sociopath implies physical violence. Psychopaths are what you’re thinking of. Not always violent, but always charming.
sbinthree··on Next Covid strain could kill many more, warn scientists ahead of restriction end
Maybe we should all just wait in our house until proteins stop replicating in nature.
sbinthree··on Ask HN: Burned out SaaS founder: how to go minimal
It is normal for financial freedom to trigger depression. Seek therapy. Don’t sell all your stuff before you have really explored what might be the origin of the problem. No extreme lifestyle changes are going to fix clinical depression.
sbinthree··on Friedrich Engels Introduced Darwin to Karl Marx and Changed the World
Hey Karl,

Great seeing you today. I wanted to connect you with Charles Darwin. He’s working on some interesting ideas and thought you’d be interested.

@Charles - Karl is a friend of mine who has been working on some new economics ideas you might find interesting.

No need to keep me in the loop

Best, F.E.

sbinthree··on Gates: Once the omicron variant passes, Covid will be more like the seasonal flu
T cell immunity should permanently reduce the severity of subsequent infections holding viral load constant. Variants would have to somehow keep getting worse to do the same amount of harm.
sbinthree··on Ask HN: Jumping from FAANG into a seed round company?
Seed pays 40% of market cash and integer equity. 1% of company if you’re intermediate to junior and they have raised seven figures. Entirely up to you, FAANG will mark you as regrettable attrition if they like you and then you can walk back on if it doesn’t work.
