sasakrsmanovic2··on A browser-native classic Visual Basic VB6 IDE
Was this built with Uno Platform too?
sasakrsmanovic2··on [dead]
Super comprehensive analysis. Great to see a non-AI generated article these days.
sasakrsmanovic2··on What WASM 3.0 launch means for .NET Developers
yeah on the surface it looks like just another bytecode. but wasm wasn’t some pointless nih thing, it actually filled a gap: a secure, standardized, vendor neutral format for the web that isn’t chained to orcle, microsoft, or anyone’s private stack.
sasakrsmanovic2··on Show HN: CherylUI.Uno – A Mobile UI Library for Uno Platform (C#)
Looks AMAZING. Is it only on mobile or it also works on web/desktop?
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno Platform Studio Featuring Hot Design
Toyota is using Uno Platform https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe3t2AGoXXE
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno Platform Studio Featuring Hot Design
For sure. It is still trending as #1 for #dotnetconf hashtag on twitter
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno Platform Studio: GUI Designer for Cross-Platform .NET Applications
Unclear why. But it is not uncommon for Microsoft to leave 'holes' in their offering soo that the partner network can fill them. Over 90% of Microsoft's revenue is partner-delivered. This often sparks great innovation outside of Microsoft walls.

Uno Platform promotes the use of .NET, so is therefore a tech-partner to Microsoft.

And with Hot Design (https://platform.uno/hot-design/) Microsoft's .NET Ecosystem becomes richer for a tool that no other developer ecosystem has. It is A RUNTIME VISUAL DESIGNER for .NET Apps. It turns the App you are developing into a Visual Design surface you can drag-and-drop components on, data bind, etc.

sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno Platform Studio: GUI Designer for Cross-Platform .NET Applications
Hot Design is one-of-a kind, for Uno Platform only.

Also, there are lots of reasons why one may chose Uno for the next project https://platform.uno/docs/articles/concepts/overview/why-uno...

sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno Platform Studio: GUI Designer for Cross-Platform .NET Applications
Competition is always good, especially when healthy and productive. See any industry, why would software be any different.

Especially when there is also collaboration. Uno team collaborates quite a bit with .NET, Visual Studio and MAUI teams.

sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno Platform Studio Featuring Hot Design
Love it!
sasakrsmanovic2··on Microsoft donates the Mono Project to the Wine team
Yes. https://platform.uno/uno-platform-for-linux/
sasakrsmanovic2··on Localization in .NET console and desktop apps
Unclear to me where this app runs as far as deskop goes? Persumably windows, so is there not a way to reuse winui localization via WinAppsSDK https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/winui/winui3/...
sasakrsmanovic2··on Figma valued at $12.5B in tender offer backed by Fidelity, others
Interesting. I sense some disgruntled employees threatening to leave
sasakrsmanovic2··on [dead]
Written 10 years ago but a lot of it still holds true.

Not enough is being said about focus.

sasakrsmanovic2··on MUI (React component library)
Love MUI and have been following them for years. I especially like how transparent they have been in sharing their sustainability plan.
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno: Create Beautiful Cross Platform .NET Apps Faster
Correct - and with Uno you get to chose either one of those approaches - https://platform.uno/pixel-perfect/
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno: Create Beautiful Cross Platform .NET Apps Faster
Many differences. To begin, NativeScript is JS based, where Uno is .NET Based (therefore C# and XAML).

Fun fact, I worked on NativeScript team, and now on Uno team.

sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno: Create Beautiful Cross Platform .NET Apps Faster
Why? Seems like a flaming comment without any substance to back it up. Could you elaborate please?
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno: Create Beautiful Cross Platform .NET Apps Faster
Good feedback. C# and XAML are on parity. But if you are seeing too much of one and not the other, it needs to be adjusted
sasakrsmanovic2··on Uno: Create Beautiful Cross Platform .NET Apps Faster
Nope it is not.
sasakrsmanovic2··on .NET on Linux: What a Contrast
Windows calculator on Linux, using Uno https://github.com/unoplatform/calculator
sasakrsmanovic2··on Developers are not happy with .NET MAUI, but nobody in the team cares about it
Give Uno Platform a try https://github.com/unoplatform/uno
sasakrsmanovic2··on The Difference Between Xamarin Forms ViewExtensions vs. WinUI Storyboards?
Anything missing?
sasakrsmanovic2··on We apologize. We did a terrible job announcing the end of Docker Free Teams
Good job on docker to come clean so quickly.
sasakrsmanovic2··on “Balkan Cosmology” by Bruce Sterling (2022)
Great story, glad I read it!
sasakrsmanovic2··on My fifth year as a bootstrapped founder
"Don’t become anyone’s smallest client"

What a great advice. Very well put - thanks!

sasakrsmanovic2··on How Sad Are Psychologists?
You sure need to be resilient to be one. I know as I live with one :)
sasakrsmanovic2··on Countries Corruption Perceptions Index
I was cautious at first, but it was somewhat reassuring to see the list of donors. https://www.transparency.org/en/the-organisation/who-support...
sasakrsmanovic2··on Ask HN: Are tech layoffs related to developments in AI?
IMO it is quite possible, as anticipation of productivity to come. But, more likely caused by over-hiring in enterprise, by empire-building management.
sasakrsmanovic2··on Ask HN: Do indie devs want coding to be easy while employees want it to be hard?
This argument doesn't resonate with me at all.

Incentives are the key, or what is an individual incentivized, on a personal level to do.

Indie devs, inherently, due to their status want to finish the job fast and well. Fast, as they likely charge per project. And quality as they want a reference and repeat business.

Devs in corporations want to do the same as well. But some people, for different reasons could not be incentivized to be working fast. This is where good dev ceremonies, like Scrum, can unearth those with lower velocity and get them to produce at the pace the wider team needs them to.
