samwhiteUK··on Raspberry Pi 4 not working with some chargers
Benson Leung is the person who wrote the OP link....
samwhiteUK··on User Inyerface – A worst-practice UI experiment
Ah, I had no idea what that was. I left it at 1
samwhiteUK··on Jobs where liars excel
Is Christine here trying to tell us that we should be worried by turbulence?
samwhiteUK··on Y Combinator invests in Monzo through its Continuity Fund
Bingo.

The fact that I can see all my transactions, automatically categorised, in an app that is much prettier, full-featured and simple than the crap that Halifax put out, is brilliant.

Combine that with a simple setup process, never having to interact with humans or call centres, and add tha bility to automatically save, interact with IFTTT etc and you have a very compelling package and I hope they continue to do well

"The circle of trust"

Please.

samwhiteUK··on I Grew Up Gifted, but My Life Didn’t Turn Out the Way I Expected
I'm not sure I've ever read anything which has reached me on such a personal level as this. I should really try harder.
samwhiteUK··on Debugging in Vim
Bang on. I didn't start with loads of plugins, but the ones I'm installing are ones to _help_ with being a fast text editor, such as UltiSnips. I don't install plugins to add functionality that should be performed from a shell. What's the point? You're only a Ctrl-Z or a :terminal away
samwhiteUK··on Why the “Self-Made” Success Story Is a Myth
Yes. Her writing career is unreliable, she said so herself. She has to take every opportunity
samwhiteUK··on Scientists call for ban on lethal, autonomous robots
I'd imagine they'd be fine. They're not deciding. as you say
samwhiteUK··on Problem solving with Unix commands
I thought this was a neat demo of building up a command with UNIX tools. The python inclusion was a bit odd, yes.

I learned about sys.stdin in Python and cutting characters using the -c flag

samwhiteUK··on Ask HN: Is it just me or did Google search recently get a lot worse?
I'm dumbfounded as to how you don't see the usefulness of this feature. Sometimes there exists more than one word for a situation, and you might miss a forum thread, for example, that is relevant to you, but you're saying to Google "only use these exact words" and not accounting for differences in dialect etc
samwhiteUK··on Raspberry Pi Opens First High Street Store in Cambridge
Hmm, I'm not sure. People who are curious about RasPi already know what it is, and people who wander in to the store wondering what it is are not THAT likely to pick one up. If it hasn't cost them much to do, then great, but I'm not sure if it's necessary. New models already all sell out immediately
samwhiteUK··on How one-sided objects like a Mobius strip work
Ho can a coffee cup be transformed into a doughnut? is the "hole" they are referring to the handle?
samwhiteUK··on Ask HN: Where did you learn modular electronics?
Take a look at The Art of Electronics if you were after a textbook. It is a little expensive, but is written beautifully
samwhiteUK··on Poll: Which text editor do you use daily?
I use nano if it requires editing a file for an install etc, as I am already in terminal. If not, gedit is my goto - i don't use a text editor that much
