I am also going to use this as a manual. I use the market-first approach for any app i want to build while i wait for the "EUREKA" moment when the great idea strikes and by then i would have money to build it.

I am a big fan of TSF. REally love the interviews and would like to say a big thank you for the inspirations. My only problem is it seems you are already going the way of techcrunch. I would love to see TSf as a place for the small start-up guy and not the already made ones. I sent a tip about my start-up and even if a story would not be written about it, an email saying why you are not going to follow-up on it would be appreciated. I contacted you several times but was totally ignored..

Thanks michael_dorfman. I would try looking for one but can you offer marketing advice. There are competitors in my space including kissinsights. We don't use an obstructive and annoying widget to collect feedback. It is more affordable and simpler to use than my competitors. We give even free users the power to set their own questions instead of forcing them to use templates or pay a hefty price for that option.

We never signed any agreements so i don't think it would be a problem. Thanks for the advice

You should run it for as long as is needed to test the effectiveness of your app. This period is one where code changes can be made to make your service better, decide pricing, test the market. e.t.c

I had that same idea at a point in time. I decided that i wasn't just going to build but make sure people use it. I have people using my web app which is encouraging but not enough for me to be happy to continue development. It might be too early to determine that. Marketing is easy to say but really hard and frustrating to do.

Thanks for the advice. The main problem is i lose interest when it does not pick up. Usually just move on to the next new business opportunity. My goals for this year was to launch 2 web apps and make sure they are promoted. After trying for a while without any good i decided the best way was to get someone who is excellent at marketing.

Thanks for that. I had a tour page but pulled it because most people did not like it. Working on a new version of poplytics which would have a new tour page.
