samdung··on Show HN: Sendune – open-source HTML email designer
you can design absolutely anything with the HTML editor - invoices included.

got it. plain text fall back is on our todo list.
samdung··on Show HN: Sendune – open-source HTML email designer
although the name says 'drag and drop', it's not truly that. you click on any column in the designer and then select the component (heading, text, image, etc) in the left panel. you can then move components up and down using the arrows.

we found this approach simpler than drag and drop, especially when designing long emails.

let me know if drag and drop is something thats an absolute for you. we can bring it back.

got it. that is an implementation you will have to do when you embed it in app. it's basically exporting the HTML, giving it a name and storing it a database. this functionality is beyond the scope of the demo. but we have it at https://sendune.com/
samdung··on Show HN: Sendune – open-source HTML email designer
go ahead and feel free to use it. that is what we intended it for.

we did indeed use some design patterns from Cerebrus along with a few others. our documentation in fact credits Ted Goas, Nicole Merlin, and Mark Robbins

Yes, this designer does that. please test it out.
samdung··on Show HN: Sendune – open-source HTML email designer
it has not evolved much. and i believe that's a good thing. this is the reason why emails from 20 years ago look the same even if you open them today. given the short life of everything on the internet, email is a wonderful thing.
samdung··on Show HN: Sendune – open-source HTML email designer
there's an export HTML functionality. you can use this to save templates once you embed this in your project.

The beauty about this is it was made in 1989 and it still works. Planned obsolescence was not discovered then.
samdung··on Google made me ruin a perfectly good website (2023)
The internet is an SEO landfill (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20256764)

This is a related discussion from about 5 years ago about how SEO is ruining search. Google still seems to have a thick enough skin and a monopoly to get away with crap even after so many years of ruining search.

samdung··on Show HN: SuperCMMS – Free Work Order and Preventive Maintenance Software
HN Folks. Hi.

I'm not sure how many here would be interested in or know about CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).

Simply put, When something in your office building or factory or favourite restaurant needs repetitive maintenance or totally breaks down, it is the CMMS software that is used to raise a work order and keep track till the thing gets fixed. It's something similar to bug management - but for the real world things around us.

A good CMMS software keeps the AC, Coffee Machine, Elevators, Water Supply ... and the whole modern way of life humming along. SuperCMMS achieves this by making things super easy (like, really really super easy) to use for frontline staff and managers.

SuperCMMS was originally built for and battle tested at large scale wind and solar plants. Now it's available for almost any industry that needs an easy to use asset management and work order system.

Happy to answer questions.

samdung··on Show HN: Hit.movie – Self publishing platform for movie producers
Hit.Movie coexists with other platforms. You can put your movie on Amazon AND on Hit.Movie. Those who do not want/have a Prime subscription can watch it on Hit.Movie. That's the idea.

Thanks for going through the docs and linking them here.

Our home page contains two slides (one for the Movie Consumer, one for the Movie Producer) and one footer slide. We wanted it to be brutally minimal and convey its message within 20-30 seconds to the reader.

We know it doesn't fit in with the regular websites we are used to seeing, but it is the way we like it.

samdung··on Show HN: Hit.movie – Self publishing platform for movie producers
One of key reasons why people watch a pirated movie is because of non availability of the genuine movie in their country/region. A significant subset of such people would be willing to pay a small fee to watch a high quality (FHD/UHD) version.

A combination of DRM and HDCP controls software/hardware based screen recording to an extent. Yes, you can still point your camera at the screen and get a crappy copy. We are taking a very realistic world view here. We can get no where if we focus on the extremities.

One ticket - one person is gone. One ticket - one family is the norm.

samdung··on Show HN: Hit.movie – Self publishing platform for movie producers
What you pointed out is correct. And, it is deliberately so. Look at it from the Movie Producers' perspective. They risk millions of dollars to bring us a great storytelling and they have to recoup that investment in just about 2 weeks time (before piracy takes its toll). For the consumer (movie watcher) it's an easy decision - download the app, pick a movie, sit back and relax. Our goal, as a platform, is to make things easy for the movie producer / production house.
samdung··on Show HN: Hit.movie – Self publishing platform for movie producers
Happy to launch Hit.Movie first here on Hacker News.

Movie streaming is complicated because of the high quality encoding demands, need for content security (DRM, HDCP), geo restrictions, low latency streaming requirements, multi-platform support, etc. Hit.Movie handles all these so that movie producers can get their new movie streaming worldwide in as less as 7 days.

We went a step further. We integrated payments that ensure movie producers get paid transparently and in near-realtime. To top it all, we handle taxation (on ticket sales) in most countries.

We need your feedback. Please be gentle :)

I'll be here for an hour or so. AMA.

FB has been lying over and over for the past many years. Yet the firm grows and its profits soar. There must be some fundamental principles/logic for why this happens. Any wise men here?

You could try AWS SNS SMS. This is also PAYG. A wrapper like https://sendwithses.com might make your work easier.

EDIT: With AWS SNS SMS you can set a spending limit and your bill will never go over that.
