samayylmao··on Apple Plans to Use Its Own Chips in Macs from 2020, Replacing Intel
To play devil's advocate.. While you may trust them more, you can't deny they have had many significant software security issues of late. How could consumers trust the security of their chips?
samayylmao··on 61% of “Entry-Level” Jobs Require 3+ Years of Experience
To me, this is very different than someone who has graduated with a CS degree or self-taught with a portfolio of open source contributions/personal projects.

An understanding of basic concepts obtained in the ways described above is very different from 0 experience. And on paper to a recruiter, what I've listed above counts as 0 real-world business experience.

edit: it is nice to hear this situation worked out for you though!

right? He was a kid then. People grow, age, and mature over time.
samayylmao··on Tell HN: I just wanted to say: thank you, Hacker News
I"m working on a BS in Software Development at 27. I 100% agree with the hand holding statement. It feels to me like universities are lowering expectations so students pass rather than fail them. I know one individual who is a senior in this Software Development program who doesn't understand basic concepts but his professors have been passing him. I don't think this benefits the student, school, or society. In fact, if anything it devalues education.

I am curious if this is an isolated situation at my university or if this trend is more secular.

samayylmao··on TechCrunch redesign – thoughts?
I think it is more aesthetic and less cluttered looking. My only qualm is when the screen width gets too small the header changes. There is an awkward amount of whitespace in the smaller screen size header. It seems as if a design this deliberate should have been properly tested.

I think he's asking the community not YC directly
samayylmao··on Test – disregard this thread
I am testing ignoring this thread. It failed. :(
samayylmao··on The Impotence of Zuckerberg
I guess it really depends on what definition of impotent you use. To quote the author: "He’s impotent because he is captive to something else." linking to another article by the author about how skynet (well the idea of it) is becoming a reality.

This author has quite a few posts that make some very strange and out there claims.

samayylmao··on The Impotence of Zuckerberg
the content of that story violates the rules of Medium. It is using harassment by calling him impotent (and not in a metaphorical way).
samayylmao··on Medium will now pay writers based on how many claps they get
each reader (user) has the ability to clap each article 50 times. Which seams like a lot.

At first this system might seem a tad odd, but they did say that the funds for each subscription are handed out to writers based on the distrubution of that individual users claps. so if that individual user is clapping consistently, then it isn't an issue. The only problem I could forsee is good articles getting drowned out because most that read it only clapped once, whereas other articles fewer readers could clap 50x and thus resulting in more claps.

Now that I think of it they don't really say how claps affect visibility.

samayylmao··on Medium will now pay writers based on how many claps they get
Well, the first paragraph already has erroneous information. You cannot give infinite claps. There is a 50 clap per article limit.
