It's not a zero sum game right now. The moment FAANGs are in a zero sum game trying to cannibalize each others' market shares I predict HN won't even have an argument around if tech firms are too big. That means tech has plateaued and has become a mature business like Coca cola or Kroger.
How do you make enterprise tools better? (Photoshop + AI, Code + AI etc.) How do you make consumer tools better? (YT tools + AI) How do you make search better?
etc. etc.
For instance, they used to have unpaid interns do full days at theme parks in-character and people would fly all the way from Australia for that privilege because, you know, you get to be Peter Pan for a summer.
It's sort of the same experience as Amazon. If you're a customer, it's the greatest thing ever. If you're an employee, not so much.
Any pointers?

I believe they cover the-odin.com as well.
tl;dr: Lots good, but lots scary.
Same with stable diffusion, AI art. And it'll be the same with LLMs.
Eventually the whole internet would be flooded with cheap AI generated content and clearly AIs need human generated content to train on so it'll be the snake eats itself.
So you have to take into account just the base pay + benefits.
Finance is beginning now but a lot of layoffs will follow in H1 2023 IMO.
I don't attach any positive or negative moral value beyond everyone just working in their own self interest.
It's 'safer' as in I think you can claim muggings or burglaries (or losses to these) have reduced because people just don't carry as much cash anymore.
There are plenty of laws forcing companies to engage in certain kinds of behavior. The latest I've seen is the beer manufacturing / distribution / sales breakup as a result of the post-prohibition policies. Manufacturers can't distribute, distributors can't sell to consumers and so-on.
I think people might not tolerate such govt interference, but assuming it's law I don't think it'll be unconstitutional.
I think it's worse than average - lots of strong opinions being bandied about. If I had to make up a score it's somewhere slightly above Google shutting down Stadia and significantly below FB / Cambridge Analytica scandal.
I won't be surprised if he churns through a bunch of different ideas: Subscriptions, Deals with news companies, short form videos + creator tools, different kinds of ad experiences, the edit button, better spam filtering etc.
There's a lot of potential things Twitter could be doing if they didn't limit themselves to their core product.
I don't think (b) is unlikely. Their current product is already highly valuable. You don't need their short form video product to succeed in a way TikTok did but there's enough of an audience to capture there to improve the company's valuation.
Dunno if there's a name for this movement beyond "contemporary" design. It's not exactly minimalism I don't think.
Eventually there will be a reaction and something new will come up.
What was incredible was how well the glucose level predicts cravings. I just ate as I usually do and almost every time I had a sugary snack (cookies etc.) I'd notice that my glucose level was low just prior to the snack.
The goal is to find out which food is tasty, provides satiety and keeps glucose from dropping too much.
I eat an Indian + Vegetarian diet with rice being the primary carb. Rice causes pretty sharp rise in glucose and a pretty steep crash after insulin is released leading to cravings etc. One behavioral change that was permanent was that we got rid of one variety of rice that's really bad (Sona Masoori) and replaced it with Basmati. We also mostly eat Quinoa or a mix of Quinoa + Basmati for our primary carb now.
Beyond that, I mostly eat the same stuff all the time so I know what it's going to do to my glucose even without the CGM telling me about it.
I still would like to give it another few months to narrow down all the other environmental factors - sleep, exercise, stress, alcohol etc. and see how my blood glucose reacts.
Needle in the skin is a non-issue. You won't feel it at all. It's like keeping a bandaid on for a month.
