People keep reiterating this probably because Trump keeps reiterating but it just sounds ridiculous.
How do you clean forests? The debris is part of the forest, not all areas of a forest are easily accessible or feasible to transport debis out of there. A dead tree is actually an ecosystem of fungi and insects. Cleaning it may make it more fire prone as broken sticks and leaves shield the ground from the sun allowing the soil to hold on to moisture a little longer. There is plenty of room for nuance here.
I would need to listen to actual experts on this, the correct solution is probably something akin to resorting wetlands and beavers which act as fantastic self maintaining fire breaks.
However when you suggest things like this you see the actual issues pop up, local farmers protest and others using NIMBY laws to block so they get payouts.
I thought this article from Jane Street makes a nice complimentary pairing.
e.g. The claim: Planes are a very safe way to travel.
Followed by someone jumping up to say: I know a person who was injured in a rough landing.
Note I'm not claiming either the individual or family is the atomic unit here just pointing out that your contribution doesn't contradict or even narrow the argument.
I will concede it's hard to reason or discuss about these things without getting lost in a Ship of Theseus definition of what 'console' and 'PC' is and where the lines are. The PlayStation 3 had the cell processor and was fundamentally different to PCs imo.
Nintendo has always seemed to manage stay as a console and seems to come out of the console wars stronger than either Sony or Microsoft, so they seem to be the exception here.

Remove commuting by encouraging remote work, incentivise dumb phone use or penalise smart phone use, create affordable property prices and secure future pensions, incentivise no televisions and create an environment where men and women can co-mingle naturally. You're right tens of thousands isn't going to cut it.
Basically apartment complexes with plenty of facilities like cafes, libraries, parks, restaurants and sports facilities and micro mobility solutions for transport surrounded by nature. Effectively reversing some of the trends we've established over the past few decades.
The reason this isn't done is because it wouldn't grow the economy, it would shrink the economy. You're effectively telling people to work less, have more leisure time and spend less.
Retail theft is becoming a huge problem, police generally won't respond to it so many of those who do it know they can act with impunity and retailers are left with few options to deter theft.
It's sort like how everything being priced at 6.99 is actually to prevent employee theft (customer expects change from their $5 + $2). It's not a psychological trick to make things seem cheaper which is to actually just display 7, a single digit number.

Functionally it's the same and have heard good things. In any case I will be switching to Linux for my gaming Desktop soon. I will still have Windows for the odd multiplayer game that isn't well supported by Proton.

Average American is suffering and it's them who's coping with the idea that a small percentage of Americans are at least getting extremely wealthy.
US is threatening to invade Canada and Greenland, this sort of rhetoric is beyond unhinged. The US under Trump has literally been downgraded as a 'liberal democracy' and is now an 'electoral democracy' the same category as Hungary under Orban. https://www.v-dem.net/documents/75/V-Dem_Institute_Democracy...
The EU has no giants, what you listed are large companies:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_public_corporations_by...
Nearly always presented as a 'dick swinging' look how great we are chart in a EU vs US vs China stand off. However it reveals flaws in the US as well. A successful tech sector in the EU will be lots of small bubbles where the combined area is somewhat approximates what is in the US and China.
A handful of giants is not desired here in the EU, you can see the issues this presents in the US as well, chiefly: it's distorting the political system to becoming like Russia. Oligarchy.
That's not even getting in to the chart is deeply flawed but that's not the point I'm making.
More specifically things like this are happening quietly in the background:
https://commission.europa.eu/news-and-media/news/eu-inc-maki...
This mandates a few things:
Countries must do certain things in English to ensure a common language.
Simple liquidation for bankruptcies, register once and operate across the EU.
Places like Germany have loads of talent but are cumbersome to setup a startup etc. This reduces that.
Things won't change overnight but a decade from now things will look a bit different, capital markets won't match the US by then but I expect the dependence trend will start to have reversed. There is no crystal ball for these things.
It's relevant to those of us boycotting Russian products and influence due to the Ukraine war.
I perused your comment history as I often do with HNers.
Some guy was predicting this exact situation in 2009 and your comment was that this would all sort itself out due to market forces. The market forces have spoken and the market lacks empathy.
Hope you get your account back and then when you do you hop on to the the other side of the fence. We can all stand to learn from your experience here and 2009 was a long time ago.
If you are in the EU or an EU citizen you will have options (you can email them from the email associated with your account asking for all your data). If you are in the US (assumption) you will be stuck with their ToS and hope some guy in Meta with leverage reads this who simply wants to help.
For reference I proudly do not use any Meta products exactly for these reasons. This is an absurd and dystopian position to find yourself in.

It's such a shame the film doesn't live up to it's own soundtrack.
