rvz··on What should we tell our students?
You should tell them that they were lied to as most of the “advice” no longer applied (or never did) and were completely setup to be displaced.

You should also tell them “better luck next time” as they have to create and find their own luck unfortunately.

This game was meant to be unfair because the ones who have “won” want to keep it unfair for others, and cannot stand losing due to complete greed.

The truth is they (students) have to find a way to outsmart the incumbents. The best advice is to find your own strategy and listen to no-one.

rvz··on Show HN: Quake ported to safe Rust, playable in browser
Another slop project highly likely to be abandoned in about a month.
rvz··on Show HN: Quake ported to safe Rust, playable in browser
Of course it was.
rvz··on Show HN: Free open source Adobe Lightroom alternative, completely local with AI
Given that some are now reversing all closed software using LLMs, it should be now finally worth reversing the whole of Nvidia’s closed source software, drivers and blobs, including CUDA.

No excuses this time.

rvz··on Trump administration is suspending Microsoft from a green card program
That won't happen. There is no reason for it to happen anyway given that AI agents are more efficient anyway.

Microsoft and others are more focused on building data centers (homes for AI agents) than hiring humans at this point.

rvz··on Curl 8.23.0 - CVE-2026-92392 - Severity High
From [0]

> "This flaw makes curl overflow a heap based buffer in the SOCKS5 proxy handshake."

Starting the timer on when curl gets completely rewritten in Rust by the vibe coders with the excuse to eliminate these memory unsafe bugs.

rvz··on God of War on PSP, recompiled to WebAssembly and running in the browser
> Also, video game programmers are already starving artists comparatively.

So this is making it better for them?

> To many people want to make video games to exploitation is rife. Only publishers benefit from your rhetoric. At least artists get royalties

Now both the publisher and the artist (we can now include game developer) will get $0 and cannot have it both ways.

We can accept mass decompilation of games and existing ones being sold today and offered for free, and also accept significant layoffs and the collapse of an entire industry.

> I understand where you are coming from...

I don't think you do. But please continue.

> Maybe putting some pressure on making games that are actually new and different isn't a bad thing.

That's not the point. It is what comes afterwards and software engineers cannot have it both ways.

This will make game studios move to world models with the real game being never released, but only simulated and streamed to you.

So let's see what happens.

rvz··on God of War on PSP, recompiled to WebAssembly and running in the browser
> Isn't this technically illegal to reverse engineer and share?

Software engineers are devoid of copyright and trademark laws and want everything to $0 and will become the new starving artists without knowing it.

Don't be surprised to see far more mass layoffs in the games industry.

rvz··on Incident with Git Operations, Pull Requests and Actions – Resolved
The last time GitHub went down was...yesterday.

GitHub is never going to improve and at this point. You might as well say that the AI chatbots, Tay and Copilot are maintaining the platform and are running it into the ground. No CEO of GitHub to go to as well.

It is time to self host instead of using something as broken as GitHub as I predicted 6 years ago.

rvz··on Twenty-two pending curl vulnerabilities
Winter is coming for all software.

An abundance of finding more security bugs before the attackers (with AI) do, meaning that curl has no choice but to use AI to protect themselves.

rvz··on AnyPS5: Port PS5 binaries to PC without emulation (87% system libraries mapped)
Also a use case for world models to hide the actual source of the game and have it stream a simulation of the real game; never to be exposed or downloaded.
rvz··on Berthd
Yet another Vibe coded slop clone of a remote claude code.

The quality bar is quite low these days.

rvz··on Tell HN: GitHub refuses to remove cracked copies of my software after a month
> What do you think I could do? Do you think I should look for a lawyer to deal with it outside the digital world?

Use a trademark.

rvz··on [dead]
It went down because no-one is paying for free software, nor does anyone care about it.
rvz··on Mistral Large 4
You have to thank the US investors who funded Mistral from the very beginning.

Mistral would have gotten a tiny and measly "EU grant" and ASML would never have invested later had it not been for the US VCs.

rvz··on Showcase your apps with new assets on the App Store
That's right. We also prefer human discussions over bot-based replies and conversations. [0]

rvz··on GTA5 in the Browser
If you want your AGI and free forever content, I think we also deserve a market crash.

Congratulations, Now world models have a use case to mitigate this and game studios will use them to simulate the real game (which will never be released), and to improve on doing stream-only games.

rvz··on Web Search API
