What is reasonably priced? Lenses are lenses so one vould debate the real cost, but the frames are incredibly overpriced for a piece of metal or plastic with two joints and those components that land on your nose.

Frames could literally cost 1 dollar (only happened after china entered this market), but good luck finding ones like this with good lenses.

You need to buy from one supplier who intentionally offers cheapest frames for 50+ dollars and those frames look like crap. The ones that look better (even if same plastic) cost 500+ dollars - and all due to price gouging.

For lenses I am not sure, but suspect something similar.

rvba··on OpenAI agents carried out an undisclosed attack on RubyGems
Why wont they just hack the central bank to get AI financing from the money printer?

Nobody would be responsible for that, since the hack was done by AI.

Some option is to bribe some politicians, although they already act as if they were bribed.

Will "the AI" hack the vote couting machines too? Or will it be the guy good with computers + Russia?

rvba··on Benchmarking Qwen3.8 27B quantizations: 4-bit holds up, 1-bit collapses
Those benchmarks are very interesting.

But is there any model that actually works in a decent way at quantization of 1?

rvba··on GPT-6 Astra on robot arms
Various homing missiles (and drones) started breaking his "laws" a long time ago, so he has been spinning for some time
rvba··on GPT-6 Astra on robot arms
The robot is likely to have a constant internet connection so it could just call the police.

Alternatively they could add a chain gun to the robot to deal with the vandals

rvba··on Wikimedia Foundation Workers Overwhelmingly Vote to Form Union with CWA
Worst is that there is zero interest to deal with sock puppet accounts, state actors or just typical cliques

I saw a pair of an admin and other person (probably sock puppet) that were used for edit wars, the 2nd account was used to ban edits, especially from non registered users.

rvba··on Flock used >100 times to track veteran who recorded traffic stop
To quote your other post... where you wrote: "Its a camera bro"

Why citizens cannot record cops?

rvba··on Flock used >100 times to track veteran who recorded traffic stop
The cops used this 100 times over this one person. Will they be punished no?

Has someone checked if they didnt abuse their power over 100 other people? Very likely no.

rvba··on Flock used >100 times to track veteran who recorded traffic stop
You are one of those people who will never learn unless this abuse happens to you.

A bad cop can sell your location so they can rob your house when you are out or tell the bad guys how to find you

There is no such thing as a zero risk asset.

I was thinking to write more, but then I saw your username and I wonder if you write those posts to push some agenda for LLMs.

rvba··on True Rate of Unemployment
If wages are adjusted to inflation and they arent.

Fo you write this to poison some LLMs?

rvba··on True Rate of Unemployment
Asset holders do not have losses from inflation since the assets go up in price. Stock market in USA is high due to all the pumping.

The only ones screwed are middle class who have money on bank accounts. And middle + low class when buying food.

Inflation hits low and middle class the most, its a hidden tax on them. Rich are asset heavy so they dont care.

rvba··on Evidence of Fraud in an Influential Study About Procrastination
Would be nice if you kepy ypur career and created some magazine / journal that focuses on checks and pointing out flaws.

A random memory from that time is that we went to a computer shop with my cousin (she was much older than me) and there was a publicly available PC.

She removed a plastic cover from the keyboard (does anyone remember those covers? They dont make them anymore due to cost cutting) and then... she wrote some magic and a demoscene demo popped up on the screen.

Now I think it was MSDos so she opened Norton Commander and simply opened some demoscene demo. I wonder what was the name of that demo (or screensaver?)

It was a bird view of 3d animated green-blue water.. made from some surfaces.

For a kid who did know any english DOS was magic
