russtrpkovski··on Fixing Hacker News: A mathematical approach
We need to access to user activity data in order to determine root cause(s)and come up with potential recommendations. All proposed solutions without any empirical evidence is based on speculation.
russtrpkovski··on Ask HN: Please review my new product Tour My App
Can it guide users across different pages?
russtrpkovski··on Ask HN: How would you split ownership in this scenario?
Can you acquire customers on your own? If your product truly solve a problem, it doesn't need someone with "strong connections"
russtrpkovski··on How would you improve Hacker News?
1.Making the front page should be based on a black box score comprised of upvotes and comments. This would avoid the piling on effect.

2.Throttle user's ability to submit content based on their karma score. Users should participate and add meaningful comments in order to be able to submit content. HN is more than an SEO best practice.

3. If its not your content, you don't deserve the karma. Users should be rewarded for submitting their own content (URLs would need to be added to profiles). I think HN overcompensates content submission from a karma perspective.

russtrpkovski··on How Swagsy Raised Its First $100K

Great article! I loved the transparency. Will you be writing a follow-up post describing your launch process?
russtrpkovski··on Why I now, unfortunately, hate Hacker News..
Would Kaggle be a good fit to help solve this problem?
russtrpkovski··on Why I now, unfortunately, hate Hacker News..
I read HN in Google Reader as well. Do you use the regular or big RSS feed?
russtrpkovski··on Ask HN: Asking what you did wrong in an interview?
Large companies have canned responses and HR coaches interviewers to avoid providing direct feedback. Given the liability of someone providing inappropriate feedback, don't expect a candid answer. Good luck!
russtrpkovski··on Show HN: Check Out My Landing Page
It's a good start!

Please find my feedback below:

1. No call to action above the fold 2. Too much copy on the landing page 3. Try to make the photos the same size 4. Adjust the form field length

russtrpkovski··on Microsoft abandon Metro name due to legal challenge
Apple would have kept the Metro name and settled out of court later. Its a shame that Microsoft is too risk-averse.
russtrpkovski··on Company withdrawing from Facebook as analytics show 80% of ad clicks from bots
Facebook allows advertisers to target friends of users who liked your page. They probably restrict name changes so users associated with a page don't get blind-sided if the company radically changes its product or service.
russtrpkovski··on Company withdrawing from Facebook as analytics show 80% of ad clicks from bots
You lose all your Likes.
russtrpkovski··on “Critical mass” vs “network effects”
The In the Plex book provides some insights into why Orkut failed:

1. As Orkut increased in popularity, it was flooded with identity thieves and Viagra ads.

2. Google focused on rewriting Orkut's Windows-based infrastructure to scale on Google's platform instead of improving the design and adding features

3. Users bailed because of poor response time. Brazilians and Indians used to slow Internet access so they were tolerant of the delays.

4. While finishing the rewrite of Orkut, Facebook was starting to take off.

russtrpkovski··on Could someone advise a new name for my Pinterest app?
Would it make sense to lead with "Pinterest for xxx". Would the order of the words have an impact on search results placement?
russtrpkovski··on Could someone advise a new name for my Pinterest app?
Are you still allowed use the word Pinterest in your app name?
russtrpkovski··on App.net project update #1
If you really want to validate your market, you should remove the Developer and Pro Tier commitments. Stick to your original blog post of securing 10,000 backers like you noted in your original proposal. Right now, your Kickstarter campaign is designed in a way that may lead to false positives.

The barriers to entry as a messaging infrastructure service play are low. Even if your platform is reliable and stable, you will be quickly commoditized to competing on price which is not a sustainable business model.

russtrpkovski··on Show HN: our new store page. Any feedback/suggestions?
A description of what your store sells in the header or sidebar would be nice.
russtrpkovski··on Show HN: our new store page. Any feedback/suggestions?
I didnt expect the transitions when I mouseover'd the product. Users are used to clicking on the photo to get more info. Not sure if Add to Cart would be a common use case from the splash page.
