An error blocking the full screen is a failure on the developer not the tools.
But the cause of the error is a poor implementation from the developer.
I can write code that errors out in <insert your favorite language here> does that mean it’s bad?
I mean yeah, obviously. You can’t trust a word out of either of their mouths.
Second, and more importantly these AI tools are EVERYWHERE right now. The effects of people using them for work can be seen throughout many industries and workplaces.
So I think studying how these models perform in the vast majority of use cases is not only a good idea, but it’s actually really important.
Even if you’re strictly pro-AI and believe it is the future, a study like this can help you explain to laymen why they need the harnesses you’re so in support of.
The vast majority of people are literally going to chatGPT, pasting in their document and asking for edits.
But actually creating music or playing an instrument is much more rewarding. The time commitment is part of it, the journey is the destination and all that.
These are also the same companies allowing their AI to make decisions in war, have no qualms about the mental issues they’re causing in people, and have abused workers in 3rd world countries for years.
But you think they’re holding out on “destroying the software industry” out of the goodness of their hearts? Come on
I think to all of the needless comments in code, AI code reviews pointing out inane nitpicks, etc.
It just makes me think your AI assistant is going to be pinging you non stop
The ticket being assigned to you is your “Hey take care of this!” ping, same with the email or text from your friend.
How long until you start tuning out the openclaw notifications?
This takes maybe 10 minutes to write a script for…
But could you estimate the token cost of this? Or were you able to comfortably do this with a subscription plan?
Researchers, maybe not. Companies, absolutely yes.
I don’t see how you could assume the likes of Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, and even Anthropic with all their virtue signaling (for lack of a better term) are motivated by anything other than greed.
However, HN isn’t asking for our ids yet.
Isn’t this situation a big deal?
Isn’t this a whole new form of potential supply chain attack?
Sure blackmail is nothing new, but the potential for blackmail at scale with something like these agents sounds powerful.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were plenty of bad actors running agents trying to find maintainers of popular projects that could be coerced into merging malicious code.
I don’t think human memory/intelligence maps cleanly to computer terms though.
How about we set up society in such a way that choosing to have children is a more appealing option.
But my point is moreso that saying 1k a day is cheap is ridiculous. Even for a company that expects an ROI on that investment. There’s risks involved and as you said, diminishing returns on software output.
I find AI bros view of the economics of AI usage strange. It’s reasonable to me to say you think its a good investment, but to say it’s cheap is a whole different thing.
Takes like this are just baffling to me.
For one engineer that is ~260k a year.
But as an individual with no profit motive, no way.
I use these products at work, but not as much personally because of the bill. And even if I decided I wanted to pursue a for profit side project I’d have to validate it’s viability before even considering a 200$ monthly subscription
This is pure LLM brain rot. You can’t “just ask” an LLM to be more reliable.
I still love the work, but to say I’m disillusioned by the industry is an understatement.
