roshanr··on Show HN: Fruits and vegetables in season in your zip code
This site has recipes like that. Most of them have 5 or less ingredients and take less than 30 minutes http://thestonesoup.com/blog/start-here/
roshanr··on Great Quotes
Same here. I had no idea who Yepremian was before I read that quote. In addition to the video, Google led me to his story, which I found fascinating, particularly how he got into football:

Yepremian and his brother Krikor emigrated to the U.S. to set a foundation for their parents' arrival. At a loss for a viable life plan, Yepremian happened to watch a few minutes of a football game on television. Yepremian told Krikor he knew the key to success in America: He believed he could kick field goals for a living.

roshanr··on Dear Programmer, I have an idea
I thought the "Have an impressive track record of expertise / success in the relevant industry" implied that he does in fact value business domain knowledge.
roshanr··on How my comment on TechCrunch got me a Facebook Cease and Desist
The cease and desist - albeit invalid - and other legal communication was sent privately to the OP. I don't think that counts as defamation.
roshanr··on Why Eating Fat Doesn't Make You Fat: Sources
While Fat may not make you fat, all fats are not alike and some fats may be responsible for heart disease and cancer while others may actually be beneficial. This post by Kurt Harris does a good job of explaining why lumping together all fats is not a good idea: http://www.archevore.com/panu-weblog/2011/1/29/there-is-no-s... (PS: Unfortunately, he doesn't cite studies, but with some googling you can find most of the studies).

Obesity itself is a complex topic and blaming it all on carbohydrates seems too simplistic. Over at whole health source, Stephen Guyenet has written a series of articles on the current state of research on insulin resistance - http://wholehealthsource.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-causes-in... Worth a read if you're interested in this topic.

roshanr··on Google contractors sacked after vandalizing OpenStreetMap
I wonder if this was the result of unintended consequences of poorly designed incentives. May be - and this is just a wild hypothesis - Google's directive to the vendor was to improve their maps data and incentives were based on their data being better than OSMs. Which leads to some of the contractors realizing that it would be easier to be "better" than OSM by making OSM worse.
roshanr··on If Italy Were a Small Business...(A Way to Understand the Euro Crisis)
I thought pegging the Argentine peso to the dollar was what made the Argentine debt crisis worse.
roshanr··on Amit Gupta needs you
If you've had jaundice as a kid in India, it was probably hepatitis A, in which case you are allowed to join. Probably worth double checking.
roshanr··on Trader: I dream of another recession (and Goldman Sachs rules the world)
Economists do not necessarily have a great track record with predicting the future state of the economy. From a study by Denrel and Fang: 'Economists who had a better record at calling extreme events had a worse record in general. “The analyst with the largest number as well as the highest proportion of accurate and extreme forecasts,” they wrote, “had, by far, the worst forecasting record.' [1]

Also, this Freakonomics podcast talks about the folly of prediction in general - http://freakonomicsradio.com/hour-long-special-the-folly-of-...

roshanr··on New Boston Globe website design
Seems to compare favorably to the Andy Rutledge redesign (http://andyrutledge.com/news-redux.php) save for the ads. The ads on the story pages don't work as well resulting in horizontal scrolling.
roshanr··on Netflix to lose Starz, its most valuable source of new movies
Time Warner and Time Warner Cable are now two independent companies. So, HBO isn't owned by a cable company, but they owe a major share of their revenues to the cable companies. HBO doesn't offer a stand alone internet service probably because they don't want to upset existing relationships with cable providers.
roshanr··on E-ink writing pad, Noteslate.
I was wondering about LiveScribe as a note taking tool myself. What about it don't you like?
roshanr··on MIT Video lectures - Introduction to Algorithms
Unfortunately, boxee doesn't have a way to link to apps. The best I have is a link to my site - http://www.roshweb.net/projects/ - which is also very light on details. I need to work on getting more information up there.
roshanr··on MIT Video lectures - Introduction to Algorithms
I'm going to take this opportunity to plug my OpenCourseWare app for boxee. You can enjoy a lot of what OpenCourseWare has to offer (including this course) from the comfort of your couch (Currently the app has courses from MIT, Yale, Stanford, Berkeley and UCLA).
roshanr··on [dead]
What was also interesting and (probably more relevant to HN) were the scoreboard failures. The on-court scoreboard stopped at 47-47 and had to be shut down. The MatchTracker on the official website reset at 50-50 and at the end displayed 9-9 instead of 59-59. I wonder how many other online scoreboards failed and how many were equal to the task.

Those edge cases that you never expect to occur sometimes do occur. On the online scoreboard, you would think that they should have at least successfully gone to 99-99 (after that, they'd run out of physical space on the flash UI). But I suspect that for whatever reason, somebody set a hard limit at 50. I'd be curious to see if they fix it by tomorrow when play resumes.

roshanr··on Digital Gastronomy - could 3D printing be the next revolution in cooking?
I can see it being the next cool/hip thing. I doubt it'll really be a revolution.
roshanr··on Google's Javascript PDF Viewer is Embeddable
Fixed a missing quote and added void(0) at the end:

  javascript:dl=document.links;for(i=0;i<dl.length;++i){if(dl[i].href.substr(-4)==".pdf"){dl[i].href="http://docs.google.com/gview?embedded=true&url="+dl[i].href;}}void(0);
