I write at https://robertodip.com
I personally have found typing to be the best, nothing beats plain text files that you can later search on.
The only exception is when you want to draw diagrams or similar stuff, I mean you can sort of draw a diagram with ASCII but is far from practical.

Another promising resource I've found is Martin Kleppmann's "Distributed Systems Lecture Series" https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeKd45zvjcDFUEv_ohr_H...
Besides being a good read overall, the book discusses topics like this one in detail and with a healthy attitude (people tend to have strong opinions on this)
Personal opinion: I have found "Computer Systems: A Programmer's Perspective" to be a better introduction to the same set of topics.
For those interested, the shuffle is also called "faro" shuffle and was likely invented to cheat at a game with the same name.
There's a wonderful book "Magic Tricks, Card Shuffling and Dynamic Computer Memories" that describes the mathematics of perfect shuffles, highly recommended!
I'm learning a great deal from the responses here, thank you.
If you are in the same position I was (self-taught dev looking to improve your general understanding) I can't recommend this course/book highly enough:

You may find my blog interesting if you like a mix of [*nix][1] and a variety CS topics, from the [Actor Model][2] to [Linear Transformations][3].

My intention was to do a follow up post with affine transformations, but I failed to communicate that.
This is correct but misses the point of the article. The idea is to introduce the Actor Model to people unfamiliar with it, using one of the most popular languages out there.
