Funny, I thought about that too right after I wrote my comment.
rodrigoavie··on ProtonMail Now Supports Bitcoin Payments
Protonmail fan and user here. Guys, honestly there are better ways to respond to customers and potential customers, without the patronizing tone. That can't possibly help.
rodrigoavie··on How Old Do I Look?
I tried my picture and it told me I looked 41.

I am 21. Geez

rodrigoavie··on Rare Video Captures Sperm Whale in Deep Sea
Wow, thanks for sharing. I wish I could live something like this, didn't even have to be such a rare animal. A humpback whale would do :)
rodrigoavie··on Ask HN: API to discover lat/long coordinates from a city name and country
Sure it helps! Even if this database does not contain every city that I wanna check, it definitely helps.

rodrigoavie··on Ask HN: How to convince my boss to use Angular.js
have some clean JavaScript instead of the old school jQuery?

In our particular case the JS code is quite a mess, which of course could be fixed without getting rid of jQuery, but I really want to use all the features of Angular.js

rodrigoavie··on Ask HN: How to convince my boss to use Angular.js
No, it is just that when the application grows too much, it is interesting to have the JS organized in a more standardized way, the MVC feature and two-way binding is very attractive to me.
rodrigoavie··on Ask HN: How to convince my boss to use Angular.js
Wow! thanks

Thank you again, Steven Halim!
rodrigoavie··on How to Be Happy
Great article. I think that the main point is always being busy doing what you like, namely, in the "flow" the author describes.
rodrigoavie··on Goodbye Heroku
I work at an Brazilian mobile ad network running on Amazon AWS and our traffic is really intense. There are 13 developers in total in the team and none of them are DevOPS, which make me conclude that most often than not, you don't need a person specialized into server maintenance and infrastructure.

Like some people said before, Heroku is great for prototyping but just not a good deal in the long run. Too expensive, way to risky/unreliable for serious stuff

rodrigoavie··on Ask HN: how to develop a status page for a Rails app?
thanks
rodrigoavie··on Brazil's billion-dollar gym experiment
I used to study at the church mentioned in the article when I was a kid, they had a school too. I used to live at the mentioned neighborhood too.
rodrigoavie··on B+ Trees and why I love them, part 1
This is very awesome. Please consider writing about other tree data structures in the future :)

Specially, sofistications on AVL and Red-Black trees

rodrigoavie··on Productizing A Freelancing / Consulting Business
Amazing! GitHub folks should hear you!
rodrigoavie··on Ask HN: substitute for Google Calendar
Sorry. Yes, iCloud is not an option for me. I want to have my calendar and not let any big company have my data. As some of you have correctly assumed.
rodrigoavie··on Mozilla can produce near-native performance on the Web
"JS can be evolved far more easily than it can be replaced." - this sums up everything :)

Good to read from time to time. I bet he's got no regrets!
rodrigoavie··on Y Combinator, Silicon Valley’s Start-Up Machine
Amazing article! What I find particularly interesting in this is not that it highlights how awesome YC is and all that talk (I'm not saying that YC isn't awesome, I'm much inclined to believe that it is) but how startups offer a way for individuals to work with that they like more and how more and more people are embracing entrepreneurship and how technology plays such an important field in this.
rodrigoavie··on Get that job at Facebook (2012)
I wish more companies shared their hiring process for developers. Anyway, I hope they do not stick too much the puzzles.

I'm looking forward for the time I'll be able to solve their problems, too.

rodrigoavie··on Here is today
Nice visualization. Gives me the impression (a good impression) that so much can be done.
rodrigoavie··on Startup idea: inward bicycle transportation service
thanks! I didn't know it had happened. Updated in the post!
rodrigoavie··on The End of Power
I agree with the three "revolutions" described in the article. I really believe they are happening and actually believe we can expect them to continue happening.

Its just that the numbers are to good to be believed. I may be biased tho.

Anyway, I sure hope the article is 100% correct.
