rochak··on Show HN: MacUp – keep CLI tools up to date from the menu bar
Why would anyone, that uses CLI tools, ever update them via a GUI?
rochak··on Ask HN: Should we still learn coding?
Define "learning". AI can help you build things faster and help you learn faster. It, however, cannot do the "learning" for you. For example: I consider that I have learnt something if I have absorbed it enough to reach a stage where I can help others learn it.

That sounds complex as hell

Isn't this just enshittification? Where money is the driver, enshittification is just bound to happen.
rochak··on Stop Making TUIs
Or, you know what, don't listen to strangers on internet telling you what you should do. Do what you want.
rochak··on Codex on AWS bedrock bug causing 10x charges
Bug for user = feature for company
rochak··on GitHub Actions and Pages are experiencing degraded availability
Corporate greed and late stage capitalism. Welcome to the future. We know you’ll love it.

rochak··on Malicious npm packages detected across Red Hat Cloud Services
If this is what will take for folks to move away from JS ecosystem, I'll take it.
rochak··on Biology is a Burrito: A text- and visual-based journey through a living cell
Life is amazing. Can anyone recommend good modern starting points to someone who would want to learn more about how living beings work (from bottom up)? It has been a while since I actively delved into Biology (my school days).
rochak··on Pope tells priests to use their brains, not AI, to write homilies

Doesn’t “tanha” mean “by yourself” in Hindi?
rochak··on The Pragmatic Programmer: 20th Anniversary Edition (2023)
I'd say learning things on your own, even if they take time, is still better as you don't have to actively force yourself to develop that mindset. We often rush towards our goal without realizing how important the journey (small steps) is. Isn't reaching the goal more worthwhile if you have enjoyed the journey along the way? Isn't that what it means to be human?
rochak··on Microsoft's lack of quality control is out of control
Microsoft has gone so deep down the gutter, it is almost unbelievable. I am waiting for the day their profits start taking a hit due to a collective boycott.
rochak··on Show HN: Shadcn/UI theme editor – Design and share Shadcn themes
Gotta love the JS ecosystem where devs move faster than users.
rochak··on Microsoft to force install the Microsoft 365 Copilot app in October
Preach. I’m also more of a balcony enjoyer.

rochak··on The elegance of movement in Silksong
Ehh, not interested in HK or similar games with such a high difficulty bar. Life is too short to be playing games that are not fun to play (for me).
rochak··on VIM Master
For me, it is close to perfect.
rochak··on Show HN: Base, an SQLite database editor for macOS
That’s one of my many reasons for sticking with Mac. I know the bar is higher and I just enjoy the consistency between first party and third party applications.
rochak··on “Dynamic Programming” is not referring to “computer programming”
Yup. I don’t mind it though as this field is riddled with names that convey absolutely nothing about the actual thing.
rochak··on US Court nullifies FTC requirement for click-to-cancel
Absolutely! I’m at a stage where I prefer to buy a subscription via Apple. It’s so simple to cancel. Not to mention how quick Apple is in general refunding any of the wrong/unsatisfactory purchases.
rochak··on Show HN: An Alfred workflow to open GCP services and browse resources within
Nice. Looks awesome. I had been thinking of building something similar for AWS. Definitely gonna reference some of the source to build that. Thanks!
rochak··on Swift at Apple: Migrating the Password Monitoring Service from Java
By now, everyone and their family knows that can get lot of updates just by including Rust in the title. It is what it is.

Good resource to couple this resource with: https://linuxjourney.com.
rochak··on Kotlin-Lsp: Kotlin Language Server and Plugin for Visual Studio Code
Microsoft/Windows’s ecosystem. As an example, any general guide on the Internet or on Microsoft’s end is written assuming you are developing on and for Windows. I want to stay away from Windows as much as I possibly can but it just isn’t possible. That’s not the case with the other languages/ecosystems I mentioned.
