I’m pretty amazed by the Long Horizon speaker roster - everytime I check the website it’s still growing. This event is rapidly becoming “the rooms where it happens” for robotics... plus lots of hallway conversation opportunities.

Plus Agility Investor Day, Fort IPO, RealSense and RAI acquisitions,
Some IPOs to look forward to are Agility and FORT Robotics going public, via reverse merger. Agility’s Investor and Analyst Day is Tuesday October 6th. Agility and FORT Robotics also just announced a strategic partnership to advance humanoid robot safety.
I'm really excited to be attending both days of the Long Horizon summit. There are already six hundred high-profile registrations from companies including Skild, Wayve (including Chief Scientist, Jamie Shotton), Boston Dynamics, Bear Robotics (CEO and CTO), Mercedes-Benz, and others.
9/11 and the development of disaster robots plus robots as entertainment and companions, or potentially sneaky spies. So many interesting stories in robotics this week!
Korea is producing significant robotics and AI companies with a focus on real world applications. Meanwhile in SF the robot wars meet dance battles (spoiler - the dancers lose). And the latest lessons from the graveyard of robot startups.
Indian robotics startups are getting funded, with Ireland and Canada also showing activity. There’s also a lot of activity and investment in drone startups.
Robot familiars, is AI or UI the next frontier? Or is it system integration and human trust? How Hello Robot is also redefining the next household robot as NOT a humanoid. Plus more robotics news and events.
It's a cautiously positive message - although still stumbles into some conflation of robotics, automation and computerization ie. conflating job loss through computerization with robotics.
What country is labor happening in? Where is tax paid? Whose laws are preeminent? Robotics, teleoperation and globalization are creating many new questions!
